why is black grout turning blue?

Hi all. Have done a granite floor grouted in black but grout has dried with a blueish tint . Has anyone had this problem b4 and how did u get over it only way i can think of is to remove and replace as u know its not easy to remove . :sad_smile:

if its a polished granite and the joints are shallow, you may be able to top up the joint, grout over the floor again making sure all the joints are full, take as much of the tile as possible and instead of washing with a sponge sprinkle dry grout powder over the joints and then polish with a cloth, try a small area first to see how it works because the alternative is it has to be raked out and regrouted

There can be a couple of problems and it is caused by too much water, either in the washing down or the tiles were grouted before the adhesive underneath wasnt fully dryed out, therefore the water comes up through the grout causing either salty deposits or colours from the floor beneath, black grout is a problem for this. Try a black marker pen and try and go over the joints, black ink would do the trick if you can get it in neatly enough

Thanks all for advice got onto tech line problem was lime coming to surface mild acidic cleaner did the job easy . But cheers for advice .T1
