Hi everyone,

Got a quick question about wetroom formers. I've been asked to build a small wetroom (102cm x 107cm).

I would prefer to get a former that can be cut down to the exact size of the room. Can anyone recommend one that is suitable for cutting and laying on a wooden floor/joist's?

Many Thanks
Denis.

My last post of the night, and the reason I came on here....😳

I can get a really good price (don't worry I'm not saying) on the Marmox showerstone tray, which I understand is suitable for wooden floors. Anyone know if it's possible to cut them and what tool E.g. Grinder/Blade?

And another quick question about adhesive's, can I ask here if MAPEI Adsilex P9 is suitable for fixing cement boards, and WP membranes when using in a wet room?

I'm wondering if Keraflex maxi or Keraquick would be fitter for purpose?

I think a rapid setting one is better, so keraquick , as for the tray.. pass never used one.

Thanks Dave,

Keraquick it will be for cement boards & floor tiles. P9 for wall tiles, so I get the longer open time to do all the cuts and it save some on the budget.

Would anyone agree ceramic tiles are ok for the floor tiles over the former shower tray? Customer wishes to use them, as they are most economical. I'm a bit concerned some of the biscuit will show through the edges of the grout lines on the smaller envelope cuts around the drain. I would consider a through bodied porcelain tile a better choice for the floor.

Would anyone agree with that? I've been given the option to choose them and send the customer a photo. So this is what's agreed so far...
Wall Tiles will be - around 200x300 white Ceramic
Floor Tiles will be - ??? To be confirmed...
Grout & Sealant - Mapei Gris Plata 111

I'm going out to choose some this weekend...job starts 11th October - in Leeds!!

Ok, sorry to bother you with that.

I called the customer back after looking at a few this morning. After thinking about it, they should choose their own. I've given them some suggestions including mosaic and ceramic.

Only me again,

I have another question about the marmox showerstone tray. When I ordered it I asked for some of the Acrylic Sealant to seal the drain to the tray, as per the installation instructions. The shop don't supply it??

They called marmox and they said any acrylic sealant would suffice. I've been having a look around at my usual suppliers and can't find anything of that description, so wondered if anyone can let me know what they use?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Guys, just thought I would come back and post the answer to my last question, as no-one seemed to know the answer here!!

The shop that supplied me with the Marmox Showerstone tray called the technical team at Marmox, and they confirmed it would be ok to use Evo-Stick 'Sticks-like-sh*t', instead of the marmox acylic sealant. Very good of them to recommend a product from another manufacturer I thought?

Anyway, I've got the job done now. Took me alot longer than I expected, as I had to change plans after ripping out, and build wooden frames for the brick walls (they were too un-even to stick boards straight on), also deal with some old lead gas/water pipes that were buired in the old plaster, and put a new ceiling up and plaster it....the joy of working in an 1890's house!!

Will try and post a picture, if I ever get time to catch up!
