Ripping up a floor

Morning All

Anybody dare to guess the time it would take to take up 90m2 of stone then take up 12/15mm of screwed down ply?

Best way for getting up the ply and the likely hood of it lifting the floorboards.

I am thinking it would take a lot longer as there could be all the old adhesive bed and the screw heads will be hidden and filled with addy.
It is an insurance quote so I need to think of the worst scenario regarding costs.

You are right Kev, before you can unscrew the boards you need to get the tiles up and actually find the screws. Not knowing how it was screwed wont help either. If the fixer did a 200mm centre pattern then it should help but as you say, the screw heads will be covered in adhesive.
You could take the destructive approach and get under the ply and lever it up. I would estimate a good 3 days with a labourer.

how long is a piece of string? anybodys guess that,for me i would say four days minimum and then you just dont know what you are going to find underneath ,so i would be very carefull how you word your estimate (quote) to the insurance people or you might end up in the myre

If I go down the route of lifting I do think it will have to be the destructive route but like Brian says there is no knowing of what else may crop up like floor boards lifting, joists need strengthening, etc (there are a couple of cracks through the floor from the previous floor) and over 90 m2 soon could soon start adding up unforeseen costs. I have some photos i'll put on shortly

yes photos would be good and also a bit more info about the job as that seem to be a lot of flooring to come up and i see big problems if you are not carefull

For some reason I have put the pics in a new thread called floor options I have started!!
As you say if not careful I can envisage bigger problems and unforeseen costs.
It is a large area not as if it is just a kitchen floor

To lift all tiles, in them different rooms,remove them all to a skip,lift all boards,(90m2 is nigh on 32 8x4 sheets)you would have to bar them up, take you weeks to uncover over 2000 screw heads 🙂 🙂 🙂 then remove to skip,me id put 4/5 days in for 1 man and his lab .
If someone can do all that in 2 days on his own i will buy him a pint and treat him to a high class hooker 🙂

i managed to lift 40 sqm of tiles and 6mm ply - nailed in 2 days. just lifted them with bar
Toolstation > Landscaping > Ground Working Tools > Roughneck Digging Bar

Last week it took me nearly all day to remove a tiled floor in a 3m bathroom, 6mm ply screwed thousands of times and some form of glue as well. Should've been an hour's work tops

You can't really judge them until you get stuck in

I have to quote for the worst case scenario so thinking around 10 days.
As Martyn above said it took him 1 day to lift 3m2 of 6mm ply this is 90m2 and a 12/15mm ply I also wonder about the possibility of the floor boards been pulled off the joists when levering up the floor.
Know idea how previously well it was put down.
