This is a public thread. So please do NOT include personal information of who's done the job, where it's been done, etc. Only include information related to the workmanship. What's been done wrong, what should have been done, how the repair has gone on, etc.

Upload pictures of poor workmanship by DIYers and rogue "tradesmen" to this thread. We have another thread in the arms which we will move posts to here by request. If you have pictures uploaded to the thread in the arms and would like the pictures added to here, please let one of the staff know.

I paid then up then went down the route of trying to recover, lesson learnt. I’ve since acquired some tiling tools of my own as I can’t afford to hire another pro. I’ve skimmed the walls, concrete filled and levelled the floor, I chucked a cheapo tile floor down to practice, the floor was done without proper tilers tools and a stone and masonry disc on my angle grinder only. I’ve now acquired suitable tile tools and am getting ready for the bathroom refit. Pictures below, I’ve also added a picture of what was under his tiles, great big voids.

So as you checkatrade works on reviews . What was your review and what did you score him

I tried to leave an honest rating, which was all scares being good (8s - 10s) other than exceeding quoted cost but keeping me informed which was a 6 or 7 and a score of 2 for “most of it needs to be re-done.”

Checkatrade didn’t allow me to post the review stating he had always paid his monthly fees. They messaged the trader who threatened me with legal action if the review went live. Instead we came to an arrangement where we would refit together at his cost but he hasn’t really upheld his end of the deal, we stripped it together and he’s bought about 15 square meters of tiles that was in the spring.

So you have him a bad review and checkatrade wouldn't publish it because he pays his dues,.
How could he score a 10 on anything

There will be easier plumbing based work that he’ll be working on and getting good scores, not that his plumbing was up to much, here’s a radiator on the other side of the bathroom wall he moved 😂

Love them pulled bends. 😂

Although I think copper is far too thin for pulling 90’s these days.

I am having a new house built by a commercial residential builder, and I am not happy with the tile work on the Kitchen backsplash. The workmanship is ugly to me, compared to other work I have had done on past houses and remodels. Am I being too picky, or is this bad workmanship? Should I expect more from a professional tile installer?

Below are photos of the work that I am not happy with.

Photo 1: Photo of an inside corner that is really ugly to me. I complained to the builder about this.

Photo 2: Photo of uneven grout lines and tile placement.

Photo 3: Photo of what the tile guy did to cover up the ugly corners in Photo 1 after I complained. Is this acceptable?

Am I out of line? Does this work represent acceptable professional workmanship?
