Public Thread!: Poor tile Workmanship by DIY and Rogue Traders

This is a public thread. So please do NOT include personal information of who's done the job, where it's been done, etc. Only include information related to the workmanship. What's been done wrong, what should have been done, how the repair has gone on, etc.

Upload pictures of poor workmanship by DIYers and rogue "tradesmen" to this thread. We have another thread in the arms which we will move posts to here by request. If you have pictures uploaded to the thread in the arms and would like the pictures added to here, please let one of the staff know.

My first attempt at mosaics. NAILED IT! not bad for an hours work. Now I'm off for a ***.

Joking aside, tiler experienced and an expert in mosaics. Used the Genesis mesh to keep them flat and rigid, which raised an eyebrow... Pro? Mesh? Anyway, according to the tiler, it has caused a problem with the sheets not lining up???? Never heard of that before. Seen DIYers have more success. Tiler said it would look better once grouted. it's being done in white but looks like it didn't help the left wall, and I've also never heard of a grout that can perform miracles!

And don't ask me what the big gash in the back half of the floor is, I dare not ask.

Do you get these from site visits @Paul C. or are customers sending you these?

P.S. Finally going back to sort that floor you helped me with next week, I'll report back

The "union jack" was from a site visit, the last two were sent in.

Good luck with the floor. Let me know how it goes.

Hey guys,
we got our bathroom made by a professional company, do these results look OK to you? The floor tiles are standard 15x15 cm ones. It's not that bad on all places, but you find quite a few of these. Also, as you can see in the pictures, the sink is tilted, and the shelf has a gap at the lower edge (3 or 4 mm i think), since the wall does not seem to be that flat.

The floor tiles are out of square and it would be impossible to get them to be perfect.

The sink should be refixed level.

Although the is a bump on the wall behind the wall cupboard - a neat silicone bead would hide the gap.

Hi,
hm what exactly do you mean by "out of square"? Maybe the smartphone camera or the angle add some distortion to the images, but they are, as precisely as I can measure, perfectly square.

Also the one on the fourth image that is sticking out that much compared to the other ones, is that really normal?

Thanks!

Mum on the phone.... "Andrew the toilet seems to have come a bit loose" ...understatement of the year mum, where's the floor gone!!
Now not to speak ill of the sadly departed but my old dad tiled this, found 6mm ply nailed down and dot and dabbed bucket addy from the guy that was incharge of sites building £1m buildings...what do the say about site managers, to be fair it's lasted 20 years somehow but bloody hell Dad :joycat:

Hi all, first post, I was scammed by a 5* rated CheckaTw*t cowboy with 14 years in the tile industry about a year ago. My pockets are now £10k lighter, I’ve had to rip it all out and am in the process of retiling. The cherry on top of the cake, he saw the door architrave that I had cut and installed to replace his poor effort which prevent the door from closing and stated he’d done a better job at that than he remembered.....Pictures below.
