Builders using Hardiebacker boards

well after years of trying to convince one of the builders I do work for he’s finally ditched the plywood and is now using Hardiebacker boards. He’s now a convert and is going to use them wherever tiling is required. I showed him in a small bathroom today how to glue and screw them, I could have told him 12 screws is all required per sheet but he’s used to 150 centres so just left him to it. He is going to get the foam adhesive as he is a builder and too lazy to mix up addey clean tools buckets etc but I’ll cut him a bit of slack.

No that’s my preferred method I don’t like the other way and he can do whatever way he wants to achieve results

Same here on 12mm, cutouts in 6mm also, just make sure ur outside and wear a mask

I do use HB when I use Rigid Tiles. Will probably have a few more encaustic jobs this year so more HB unfortunately.

No. I don’t do many tiled floors so don’t need to use HB much.

For once no hb = hardie backer and ply for his 90 % of the time lvt jobs

What blade? I find any grinder blade I use on hb doesn't last long at all

I use an old macrist continuous rim blade, it has lasted me forever

Hard because they're bloody frozen solid!!

Score a few times and find it snaps well.
There is Hardie blade for the grinder you can get that produces minimal dust
