Noticed today that lidl have a 1400w variable speed mixer with paddle on special from Thursday for £39 which seems a bargain, I know it may not be up to the standards of some of the bigger brands but I think their stuff is German made so could be a bargain, anyway I'm just starting up so trying to get together my tools and thought others may be in the same position and want to take a look. I'll nip down get one thu morning and update this post once I've knocked a mix of something up!

I got one of the Aldi ones just before Christmas, I reckon it's probably done 100+ bags by now (addy/SLC) and I can't fault it. Give it a go, even if it only lasts a few months its not the end of the world for 40 quid.

Got one over a year ago and it sat in the shed for ages until my main mixing drill packed in. Have to say, it's a great wee drill especially if your just starting out. As Bri says for £40 its not a bad deal. Even if the drill doesn't last you could always swap the paddle.

I have just ordered an Evolution Twister today,
£120 from ScrewFix.

I would have bought one of them out of there..... Grrrrrrrr

For only £40 wi a 3 year manufacturers warranty ! I'll b there at 8am Thursday mornin  Cheers

Toolstation do a mixing drill for the same money.......and they last quite a time before they burn out.

Good 'heads up' Hotrod !
As a fellow 'Newstarter', I'll be in my local Lidl

With the cost of all the tools needed every bit helps ! Don't know if it's of use but I also got a really good 4 piece level set including a 1800mm from screwfix in their clearance section was reduced from 70 to 27 and although it's their own brand (forge steel) its a really nice quality set
will update as and when I find any other bargains !
Working from home for the next few weeks before my redundancy becomes official so got nothing better to do then trawl the net finding cheap tools lol !

I have one of these mixers well worth the money have been using it for some time now its cheap at half the price thinking of getting another one.

spotted this mixer in lidl broucher only in 240v tho but still gotta be bargain at that price worth keeping as back up

If it adds any weight to the thread we have 2 of these Lidls £40 mixers and they are exceptional value! Found the blade wears before the motor and the first is over 2 years working now.

£74.99 on eBay.

I had a quick look through eBay & they were all about the £100 mark.

You get a 30 day returns policy so it will be getting returned.

I only needed the 110v as the house isn't powered up yet but I got a fly lead & switched the genny to 240v so the twister is still in my hall way boxed..

Just been and got mine seems a sturdy bit of kit and easy to vary speed so another bit of kit ticked off the list!

if you want to pay around the 120 quid mark .. then check out the Flex mixers at Diatech.. page 37 of the tiling catalogue

Bought one earlier & must admit it does look very good for the money.

I also bought 10 magnetic strips for the back of the van/garage, £2.99 each to hold trowels & stuff in place.

Supposed to be working but as per waiting on plumbers.
