Hi guys, A customer has just asked if I Could regrout areas of a shower enclosure as it's suspected the water is running behind the grout and through the living room ceiling. There's quite a lot of cracking although tiles are OK. It appears that it's been laid on just plaster board and it's all stud walling. She wants me to spot grout after digging it out. I was going to use a grout tool from screw fix, I hear it's better than a dremel?..... Also, is there a bigger problem? I'm wondering if the grout is holding it all up....

i would avoid it and just advise that it needs taking down, repair any stud work and re boarded tanked and tiled to prevent it happening again

Grout normally cracks because there are other issues . As @Simon Dale take it all off and if she doesnt want that let somebody else do it .
The plumbers now going to regrout it.. Quality job... Only thing is I miss out on a paid job..however would be wrong to just regrout knowing there's more wrong. Funny how the plumber is trusted more than a tiler!!

Also get used to " well the builder said it would be ok "
Oh and the one which covers everyone " the tiler will get over that "

You can't help everyone. When you spell out doom and destruction people want an easy option let the plumber mess up ;) and you can go back in a month rip out and earn.
