Good call there CJ..

I was under the impresson it wasn't a floating floor due to this first comment he said... " Its a new timber floor. I used 22mm treated chip board, screwed, 12mm marine ply glued and screwed every 6-8".

So seen as it's a floating floor then that explains the flexing.......

sorry fellas, what do u mean by floating floor. Is that timber on joists? Any further suggestions as to what adhesive?

No that is a suspended floor. Floating floors have (usually) a foamy type sustance in the layering like an underlay.

A year ago i was asked by a builder i had just started working for to tile his new kitchen and dining area. It was a floating floor, i said i wouldnt do it as i felt that it would have problems in the coming years. I didnt get any more work from him and he tiled the floor himself so i heard.

I WAS WRONG !!

I should have said it would have problems in the coming months, as i heard through the grapevine that he had a nice new carpet less than a year after to cover where all the tiles had been, due to the floor cracking.

In that case i have a suspended floor. I am about 1/3 way through lifting and cleaning off my tiles. What a nightmare. very hard work. They are going back down on monday so lets hope I have it ready. Any tips on how best to remove the adhesive? Should I soak them first?

What about nicobonds fastflex its as good as bals and £10 cheeper, and it comes in 1.5kilo bags so you can make up smaller quantitys.

The floor is sorted now. I lifted all 19 square metres of it, removed all adhesive from floor and tiles then we retiled using BAL flexi rapid set adhesive. Grouted with superflex. Worked a treat. After a week no cracks in grout. Obviously Topps adhesive was the problem. Topps did supply adhesive free of charge, but Im now thinking I should be entitled to more compensation. NEVER USE TOPPS RAPID SET FLEXI ADHESIVE.

Pleased it worked out for you mate....good old bal eh!!! always comes up trumps..........

Sevman, Just be glad it's sorted you could've had a customer from hell giving all kinds of problems threatning court action and all that palaver so fair play to topps for suppling materials for nothing

5. were the tiles/floor wet, ie from rain, dampness etc as this can cause an **** planning effect and no adhesion can be guaranteed.
