Hi, Please could somebody advise me on a tiling job just completed

Hi everyone

Just had two bathroom floors tiled. I have attached pics but not sure how good they will look on here. Basically the tiles are really sharp like there is not enough grout. He has also done the same to my neighbour, she got him back but hers are still sharp. I've bloody paid him as well. The tiles are wonky and look like no spacers have been used as the strips between tiles are all different sizes. The tiler is coming back tomorrow but I'm not sure what I can ask him to do. Please can somebody help?

Ask him to do it again.
Ask for your money back plus recompense for lifting/relaying and new tiles.
Did you get him to tile after he had done your neighbours?
Sorry but a really bad job that

Hmm, I think even of the poor cuts were replaced it still wouldn't look right. Just out of interest, is there concrete or floorboards under those tiles?

There's plywood underneath the tiles 🙁 So do you think I have the right to try and ask for my money back?

I agree with all of the above. Definately ask him for your money back, he will say no I would imagine then go down the route of saying you would like him to re-do the floor. Get yourself a long straight edge if you can get hold of one, lay it flat to show him how the tiles go up and down, then lay it along the grout lines to highlight how out of true they are. It just makes you seem more prepared to him, i'm not saying get nasty, nothing could be farther from the truth. But you need to make him see exactly what a shoddy job he has done.

As above, if this guy is a tiler I'm a snowman. Dog rough imo.:mad2: saddle bag ceramics strike again.:ban:

you need to ask him what he is going to do about it as the work is sub standard ,poor cutting ,lipping tiles, uneven joint sizes and messy grouting ,this is not to a professional tilers standard in my opinion

Another one to the cowboys methinks

what the hell ,he is no tiler ask for him to make it right or to give you all your money back, plus the cost of the tiles as you will nt be able to use them again, and to think there are proper tilers strugling for work:thumbsdown:

omg. mon dieu-absolut nichts zu glauben.
in any speak or form this is tiling is not what any country in our union would find acceptable

The cutting onto corners is particulary bad, and so obvious with the light grout. I have laid this type of tile myself and they are not even difficult to cut.

That's pretty poor work. Doesn't look like any care was taken when fitting. The kicks in the tiles are shocking & as you said it looks like no spacers were used. Has the tiles been cut around the sink instead of it being removed & re-fitted?

That is awful, one of my many pet-hates is not cutting the bottom off the door architrave and sliding the tile underneath. He's not even attempted to scribe round it, it's just the corner cut out, and that's a country mile out of being even close to the door frame/architrave. Point all these mistakes out to him and ask how HE will rectify them.

There's plywood underneath the tiles
that's a bit of a worry. did he use a decoupling membrane or backer boards. tiling directly to wood isn't something i'd consider doing and i'm sure a lot of tilers here would agree. generally shoddy work aside, i'd be asking him about this too.

show hi these pictures and tell him you want them like this if he says ha can't do it
ask for your money back and bring back floor original state before he put tiles down....

Cheers, nice people as well, plenty of tea and biccies. Always makes a difference.

Indeed it does. My above customer was great. Made a baguette every lunchtime & coffee every 2 hours. If only they were all that nice!

Great work Gamma and Bubble it sounds great for snacks and believe me I like food but can we keep to the original post please and advise the lady about her floor.

Thanks
