Hi guys, any and all advice with my first envelope laying would be greatly appreciated and typically it would be diagonal set.

I have watched a couple of youtube vids Impey etc, to see whats meant by envelope and I've read some posts re snap and rub with stone as apposed to wet cut but the posts were 2009 just thought I'd ask for any updates etc.

Also should I put some sort of "temporary" frame around the wetdec area to help me set the envelope??

Awaiting your comments guys and gals.

IMO it depends on the layout of the room and where the tray is situated. I've done wet rooms where the shower has been the main feature of the room and although the tray wasn't central I centred the tiles from it as that was where your eyes were drawn to when you entered the room. Other times I've centred the room up as normal. It all depends on the shape of the room, other features of the room, size of tile etc... Usually I'd dry lay some tiles and let the customer see a couple of options. You need to use a wet cutter for the envelope cuts to give you a decent grout joint too,

If you also require any wetroom products from backer boards to waterproofing kits/membranes or even tray formers, then call us to get the best prices 01388-776211... mention tilersforums when calling.

Many thanks, its rectangular and the tray is in one of the corners will dry lay tomoz and have customer decide with a little nudge from me I have a Dewalt 24000 so will wet cut cheers for advice much appreciated.

Hi, when I do these sort of jobs I use a slow set powdered adhesive and either a wet bet cutter, or a thin dry cut disc in a mini grinder to get a really good grout line.

If the drain is in the middle, you will obviously need to slope the tiles slightly to create a fall to it, which you can temporarily hold in situ with masonary nails very lightly tapped into the floor.

I would always centre the tiles from the drain, but obviously it would depend whether it left slithers to the outsides, and the doorway.

Hope this helps.
