anyone have experience fixing these 50mm thick 200x100 limestone/marble smooth dense(5 kilos each) i,v not used anything like these before.have been asked to lay them on a concrete patio, using either adhesive or semi-dry sand /cement.
any comments much appreciated (regarding cutting/what meterage per day reasonable to expect

I'd pass the buck and say that was landscapers job lol! if your concrete screed is flat I'd go for a rapid set flexi adhesive (make sure it's exterior grade)

Is it black, sounds like Indian and its limestone, if so use adhesive and it marks pretty easy but doesnt always show up until you seal it if you do.

Hi, check the sealer that you intend to use : Make sure it is suitable for exterior use.
Some sealers are only suitable for inside.

Yeah mate, adhesive certainly.
Depending on how much cutting you need to do I would anticipate you could get between 5 to 15 sq.m. per day.
They're bloody heavy so will take it out of you...make sure you take that into account.

Confused with size mate - surely they are not 200 mm x 100mm ?
But 2000mm x 1000mm is massive ?
If the latter then deffo a 2 man job to lift !!! Price accordingly

Can't see that size only weighing 5kg each nick, must be the smaller size!

Need to know exactly wot it is you are laying....but nothing wrong with a 30% slump sand cement screed bed.

HI ALL
THESE ARE BASICALLY A SOLID 50MM THICK BRICK SHAPE LIMESTONE/MARBLE,THINK THEY MAY FLOAT IN EVEN A 30% SLUMP MIX SAND /CEMENT, MOST OF THE FEEDBACK SEEMS TO SAY ADHESIVE, BUTSTILL OPEN TO ADVICE FROM THE WORLDLY WISE :hurray:

Well if its got a vein it would suggest marble but grey marble with a vein..........mmm not sure about that in the size.

Size would sugest setts which would be granite but hope you might of recognised if it was.

Weight says granite or blue stone

Looks grey when dry looks almost black when wet ? with a vein wow pure guess Belgian blue stone, so limestone despite name actually quarried in Ireland.

Treat as limestone I would say whichever method you prefer, if i'm right then no sealers required...

Honestly you got me on this one, there are a lot of travertine setts comming in but they are mostly tumbled and nowhere near that weight.

Done my best m8............. 🙂

I don't think you need sealers outside....let the stone do it's thing....

Nice solid bed onto sand(soft/sharp) and cement mix and a sand cement grouting with sbr additive will suffice IMO...

Silca/silver sand makes a good grout..

THANKS FOR ALL THE COMMENTS, NEED TO PUT THIS ONE TO BED NOW, HAVE TO SUBMIT SOME THING TO THE CLIENTS TOMORROW, STRANGLEY, REALLY WANT TO TACKLE THIS ONE NOW ,DON,T LIKE BEEN BEATEN😳

Hi, i did a granite floor job last year in Aberdeen, 1200 sqm of granite 40mm thick. We used Dunlop large format flexi adhesive and a 20 noched trowel, when we got right into it we were laying about 35- 40 meters a day, back breaking very hard work. We also made the adhesive quite sloppy and checked the tiles every so often and they were getting 100% coverage. Would'nt want to do it again, hope the stones calibrated. Cheers Mick.

No point really nick...it will green over anyway, and it isn't going to be subjected to the spills of every day kitchens is it...

I'm not saying you can't seal it but it doesn't need it IMO...i have seen lods of stone laid outside and it has never been sealed....

I did a slate job once and the customer wanted nothing on it....it still looks like new , he just gives it a jet wash and bingo nice and clean again...

Brilliant, thanks,
main reason for asking is that I am tiling my patio in the summer, marble pavers, was going to seal as I thought they would be at least a bit more protected from the elements than if they were not. But if no point, then I will leave unsealed.

Depends upon the stone as well nick and the sealer.....If barbeque is going to be used etc then certain stone will benefit for ease of cleaning.

Check that any sealer you do use is suitable for outside use and dose not yellow with ultraviolet rays...

As with all stones , if you spill you wipe it up.....but hard some times when you are entertaining i know...

But at least outside you can get a jetwash on it...can't really do that with a kitchen floor can you...
