Genesis Tiger trowel

Just spent this week using one from CTD , lovely trowel and the free bucket trowels nice too:thumbsup: I actually like the handle didn't think I would as its square best six quid I ever spent (talked another tiler into getting one as well )

I wasn't too fussed with mine tbh,

The floor wasn't great & I think that was more of a problem for me.

I ended up skiming the back of the tiles & packing out.

If the next floor is flat then I will defo use my tiger trowel again though!!!!

I have had mine a while. Flat floor great, slightly uneven makes it the same as any other. Used it today on walls for the first time which 150 x 50 tiles 12mm thick and it was great. It is like all trowels you have to chop and change them for the tiles and floor/wall variances. Overall though a good trowel to have in the collection

I know, two floors to do tomorrow so we will see how we get on!!!

Funny thing is, everytime ive tried to tell any of the "tilers" that come into us about this, i get "that'll use too much adhesive"........yet you guys seems to like this trowel!

It doesnt use that much adhesive, Not sure if it uses any more really, I have never noticed.

Is it easy to wash?? That's the question! A square notch has a tendency to rip sponges, wonder if its less harsh when washing? And, does it rust?

Yeah its fine to wash as long as you dont let the addy go solid, noticed a speckling of rust but not a great deal.

I've been using them for over a year, rarely anything else. The first one I bought wore down with use so now I have two sizes! Great trowel...

Hi sorry for hijack, is the genesis tiger trowel suitable most tiles and locations? Ceramic tiles 360x270mm on plasterboard and marmox bathroom and shower walls? 457mm sq Travertine floor tiles on Ditra 25?
Thanks Ed

It's a solid-bed trowel by the sounds of it. I've never seen or used one. Brilliant for floors or uneven walls, but perhaps an overkill when it comes to flat surfaces like plasterboard and Marmox. For those areas you could do with a 10mm square notch or even maybe 6mm (for walls only mind).

Would the Tiger trowel be suitable for 800x800x8 porcelain floor tiles? Currently having problems with ridges not collapsing using a regular 12mm notch on the floor & 6mm on the tile.
