I've been using the Genisis system for a good while now, it can cope with material of up to 70mm in depth, like the breaking capabilities of your tile cutter you'll soon get to know where it is with them also. If your doing a job with stone etc you can get a battery plier that will remove the strap with no movement, hence no scraping or alternatively you can simply pull it off like you would opening a bottle of beer 😉
In all seriousness I can't fault it as a system, it also is worth getting the large format tops for anything over 600x600 or heavy stone
I priced this up from protilers and as far as I could tell it's similar in cost to Raimondi, well it was until the bases in Italy were found.

Just this min got txt from DPD
My delivery from Italy, will be here today.
I placed an order at 13.26 Fri afternoon!
Seems good enough to me!
Very pleased with service, I've been trying to place an order in Ireland on a website since Friday, and I still have managed to complete it, technical stuff,
Web page won't complete order.
And they want 3-5 working days to deliver a very very tiny 20ml bottle of fluid I need for a job! Hahaha
You sure about your statement Lee? Hahahaha

I'd be better using pigeons by the sounds of that lol

To be honest that's ridiculous, to make the system viable they shouldn't be charging anymore than £12 per 200 or you'll simply go to an alternative system. Am iright in thinking the Ramondi system works out at about 6-7p per strap?
I've never used the Ramondi system as I've said before, but I would trust what the likes of Antonio and Marc etc go with and if J had to pay what you've been asked Id simply change, that said the Genisis system is still a good one, your just being ripped off!
call me? ready, ready one speaking? no compry 🙁

I have done a couple of jobs now with them and had no problems even when I mixed them together with some Raimondi ones I had left over .

What went wronged with your ones Antonio?

U can be sure I wil Lee, but I'm sure if Julian thinks they are on a par with the Raimondi then I'm sure I'll just be echoing his thoughts. 🙂
Marc did you come to a conclusion on these, are they as good as the Ramondi ones?

Not on the ones I use !!!!
Are you being lazy and asking them to do to much? Get the tiles laid a bit better to start with 😉
I want to close the leveling speech. (on my part)
you have become like old Italian tilers. lol
I raimondi pay them € 99. those of Rome (purchased by julian) cost € 72.the quality you pay for.
the difference in the sqm is minimal. (of course the speech is not valid for English.)
ye pay a lot more raimondi.
closed speech for me😉

Any verdict yet Marc? I'd love to know what you think

Hey Lee,
Sorry mate in all the excitement completely forgot!

The 2mm are very good, strong and do a good job!
On thin tiles the wedges go almost thro and the Raimnodi pliers could do with an extra click, if u follow. But still do job very well.
They actually appear stronger than Raimondi.
I'd imagine on normal thickness tiles they'd be perfect!

I've not tried the 1mm yet personally, but I have it on very good authority that they're not quite so clever.
They tend to stretch apparently, that's about all I can say I'm afraid. 🙁

I'd certainly buy the 2mm again.

Just recieved a delivery from China of Rubi style straps and cups.
My preffered system, but pricey.
Firstly they're completely interchangeable with the Rubi system, which is excellent.
However, unfortunately the straps are quite brittle, and snap easily.
The plastic isn't as malleable, I've tried pre soaking them in cold water without much success, I will try hot.
If I hold one end with ordinary pliers and the other with Rubi pliers and exert force on the strap, the Rubi ones will twist and stretch, the chinese snap! 🙁
It's a real shame.
Even with all fees and customs and air freight on 1200 straps and 600 cups I still saved over £100. If I was to put in large order they'd be sent by sea and considerably cheaper still!!
In fact something like ridiculously so!

I can actually get them to work no problem, however, I believe that's only cos I've been using them for a few years and know how to read the feedback thro the pliers.
I wouldn't recommend them to someone who's never used them unfortunately.
Which is a shame Lee.
The grey are Rubi, white Chinese.
The image showing me holding them vertically, the tiles are actually off the floor and not resting on my shoes haha
Hope this answers some questions for you mate. 🙂

Wow Marc, thanks for the advice, quite an in depth review.
I take it then that you prefer the Rubi system over the Ramondi one as a whole and that in both cases the 'copies' are worth getting rather than paying for the originals?
Thanks for getting back to my question mate, much appreciated
