Hi guys I have a flooring job to start on monday and i'm after your ideas on how you separate tiles from carpet at the door jam. I don't know if there will be a height difference ( I shouldn't think there will be much if at all), Tiles will need cutting at door jam so I would think some kind of trim would be best. All ideas and recommendations greatfully accepted thanks.

You answered your own question, yes a tile to carpet trim, found just about everywhere

Don't buy the trim that is raised and you have tonknock down to the height of the tiles with a rubber mallet once the tiles are laid. The sales rep told me they just needed to be tapped down slightly, however they had to be hit a fair old whack and I ended up chipping a tile, had to dig the grout out, pop the tile and relay and regrout. I now use the ones that come in 2 parts, you lay the base and tile up ton it then the top just clips over the top with barbed like brackets to hold it in place, easy peasy.

Varley, it's a mad idea to start bashing down a metal bar over your newly laid tiles. I chipped a 600x600 tile last year whilst bashing down the door trim. All that extra cutting and grouting, and not to mention all that extra addy. These trims cost £10. I try not to use them if I can. Cheers Sean

Curly, can you get Schluter trims? They are what I use when transistioning from tile to carpet.

Schluter has a lot of choices for colors, finishes, profiles, etc.
