Hi all.
Have had a read through a few posts and there are some very knowledgeable people on here who I am hopefull will be able to help me.
Im doing up an old cottage. Ive just taken up a parquet floor which was stuck down with a bitumen adhesive. The screed is sound although damp seems to be present so I want to use a Ditra mat before tiling. Will tile adhesive stay stuck to the old bitumen adhesive ok. Many thanks in advance

Is it stuck tight to the floor or easily scraped off in places? Is it covering the floor or patchy?the quality of flexi adhesives today sticks to most things no prob.

Thanks for your replies,

the old adhesive is very well stuck to the screed and does not scrape off easily.

I think the damp is due to a lack of DPM beneath slab.

A Vapour equalisation membrane will help that slab breath and the tiled installation stop intact..

Vapour Stabilisation a must on this one. SBR/cement slurry over the bitumen before you stick the decoupling mat down would probably help enormously.

What ever it is stuck down with is seperate to what is already down..so the first coat/adhesive needs to be intact....slurry coat is the way i would go.....

Thanks.
