I paid 120 for an 8 yd last month, that was cash though. I'd say 80 quid is a decent price for a 4 yarder.

I often use rhino bags where possible, buy them for a fiver then £35 for them to pick it up.

make sure you let them know if you are putting any plasterboard in alot of skip companys will refuse to shift the skip other wise

Never really given that any thought before to be honest. I guess a lot of the skip firms recycle or at least sort through the loads somewhat anyway? I know of a firm around here that sort it all out and weigh in any metals etc.

I know you get in mega bother for asbestos and old car batteries but, plasterboard must go into every builders skip. I've got an old soil pipe in the garage thats asbestos from when we moved over a year ago and the garage roof is asbestos sheets that need replacing, gonna cost a fortune to get rid.

If its your domestic asbestos you should be able to take it to your local tip with no problem.Contact your local tip before hand to make sure they have room in their asbestos skip.Thats what happens in my area.

Rather than hire a skip when I did my own bathroom I took mine to the local tip. Kept everything separate like the good recycler I am. When it came to the toilet I was told to put it in the skip with the hardcore, soil, concrete, cement etc. There was a sign attached telling what NOT to put in, and one of the things was ceramics. So I said to the bloke from the council, 'where can I put this? It says no ceramics in here' He said 'You want rid of it don't you?, just chuck it there.'

So how are we supposed to conform to all the council rules and regs on recycling when they don't bother about it themselves?

Skip hire, £90 for a 4 yarder, £140 for an 8

they wont even let vans in our tip any more unless you ring up first to book it in, then there all over it to make sure you got no buissness waste...

4yrd... 90 squid...

Jeez! Looks like plasterboard is going in to the bottom of the skip from now on

Put it in the middle, not the bottom. You are still allowed a certain amount of plasterboard waste.....think from memory it is about 10% but I will check the wrap regs and repost.
