Just had a call for a job to take a look at, pebble tiles.
Have never layed these before but presuming they work like a mosaic?

Basically looking for some advice on them.
What adhesive should be used?
Ok to cut with a grinder or use a normal tile cutter (electric ofc 🙂 )

What type of pebbles should be sealed and what type of sealer should be used on them?

Cost, should i be charging normal rates for these?
I usually charge around £20 for ceramic and £30 for mosaic per sqm.

One last thing, how the hell do you grout these things?, take it a float won't get in the finer places due to the bulge of the pebbles.

Thx again

Hi penno,
Ive done a couple of these ,including my own bathroom .
I used granfix rapidflex ,and just used my pinchers to do the cuts (they are'nt that hard to break) as for grouting i used granfix fast flex and put it on with a float as they are rather flat.

Hope that helps:thumbsup:

i tend to try and move the pebbles on the joints of the sheets to blend them in to each other as i think that if you dont you can easily see the joints ,they stick down with any cement based adhesive and grout with a decent wide joint grout use wash boy as it gives an even finish imo dont forget to seal them before and after grouting

I have done a cooker splashback in WHOLE pebbles (believe it or not. Daft choice but hey ho)

Whole pebbles on a hessian sheet backing

I used rapid set (small batches)
Grouting was a total pain in the arris..............ended up grouting with JUST a sponge.........literally dirty great blobs of the stuff lobbed in and smoothed over (sounds crap......but it worked)

I was'nt sure to seal or not...............so I did just to be on the safe side.

Have to say.........it was a real pain, but looked good.

had a job this week that was the little bricks, nightmare to grout and used loads as does the pebble sheets.

only joking lol

I actually got this job, how i wish i didn't. Had a day off from the sites last week so went around to make a start. Almost laid the first ensuite floor, made my excuses and left before dinner before my head blew up. In a flat so i ripped open a bag of rapid set downstairs and threw it in a large bucket so im not ripping bags open in the flat getting dust everywhere. "is that definatly Bal adhesive? "yes why?" "just asking" "just popping out for 10 mins" could see from the bathroom window i had open her checking the downstairs bin for the package i had threw to make sure it was Bal! This just continued throughout the morning but got worse. Steer clear
