Dan, the Colchester Course is at the Hythe Mosaics Studio, that's a one day course on Sunday Oct 24th 10am - 5pm, I will send directions and details if and when required,
and yes, Dan, the Stoke-on-Trent Course is still at the Gladstone Pottery Museum on Oct 30th and 31st 10am - 4:30pm (as the room has to be vacated by 4:45pm). We still have a few places left 🙂

Well, Saad has arrived, adn we are full on occupied with course preparations! You are in for a treat!! See you soon!!

It made the news... not in a big way, but it made it: 🙂

LEADING mosaic artists are to lead a course at a museum so residents can learn about the art form.

this link did not work when I copied and pasted it, but when I searched for mosaic desing on the news site I found it.

I picked Saad up from the airport today, all is well, see some of you, soon! 🙂 Still a couple of places, too, so forget the deadline and come along! 🙂

Hail the new Posh and Becks! I hope you are measuring column inches this week.

In your preperations DON'T FORGET THE CAMERA or there will be trouble

Just been trying to book accommodation at the Hilton in Stoke.
Apparently there is no Hilton in Stoke.
Looking for a B&B in the region of £10 a night - used to get 4* for that when I worked away.
Will have to see if there is a Youth Hostel nearby in the peak district, bit cold for the tent.

.....and a bit old for a Youth Hostel!

Hey Doug, I know what swingers are, I lived in a very close community, for a long time. They are trapeze artists, are they not.

I'm right looking forward to meeting you guys.. you make me feel positively young! I won't be online much, going to Colchester (at the Hythe Studio) email me for more info) and London from Friday so if those of you who are coming have any more questions, please email me as soon as possible and I'll answer as soon as possible, too. Starting time on both courses 10 am, until 5 pm in Colchester, 4:30 pm in Stoke-on-Trent, in the Gladstone Pottery Museum one hour lunch (there is a cafe on site as well as free parking) and short 5 minute breaks in between, bring as many different pens as you can, some scissors, and a drawing pad, A4 or A3, we will provide the rest. sounds like paly school  but trust me this is good stuff!

Bedtime now, night all 🙂

all working again now, took it to the garage, the motor had gone, happens sometimes theys said and put me a new one in, all sorted! 🙂 Saad anme driving from Scarborough to Colchester tomorrow, busy times, think of us, lovely people and I'll see some of you, soon! :hurray:

oops that above post should have been in my car thread...

ANYhow, we still have three places left in Stoke-on-Trent, the Colchester course was amazing, Saad has so much teaching to offer that for me to facilitate what he is doing is really the way to go, what a clever man he is. This will increase your mosaic options, and dare I say creative tiling, or the ability to add clever features to your tiling like you would not believe, cutting tiles will never be the same again, nor will you be in any way worried about how to achieve effects you could until now only dream of. If you can make it, move heaven and earth to get there, really worthwhile.

Gladstone Pottery museum, Stoke-on-Trent, Sat+Sunday Oct 30th +31st 2010, 10 am - 4:30pm (conference room must be vacated by 4:45pm)

First day of the course is over, it was awesome can't wait to learn some more tomorrow. Saad and Gisela are fantastic people. If anyone gets a chance to attend this course in the future, I would highly recommend it, and I'm not artistic:thumbsup:

I would like to say a big thank you, to Gisela and Saad. These two are true artists, and very nice people. The course was fantastic, I learned more than I could have dreamed. Nice to have met TJ for the first time, he has been hiding his talents, he did a mock mosaic from coloured paper, using the techniques we had been shown, It was awesome! but in keeping with his sence of humour It was blood shot:lol:

Maybe Gisela will put some pics up for us, I would rcommend this course to anyone. Thanks again Gisela and Saad.

Sorry my post should have read He made a mock mosaic (eye) the eye was blood shot.😳

good stuff, i was to busy this time but maybe next time, has it helped you in you mosaic work phil ??

I know it will in the future Dave, I was the least artistic person on the course, but with practice, the techniques I picked up will definitely broaden my horizons, and with guidance from Gisela and Saad, if they don't mind the odd email from me, asking for help or advice:thumbsup:

Oh, wow, Phil, what lovely comments! Thank you!!! It was great to meet you, Saad and I really loved having your company at the course, you did amazing work so quickly into the lesson, and like John very very quick on the uptake, I think the experienced tiler's eye for cuts and direction is very useful for all dimensional work, in mosaics and otherwise. I could feel ideas tumbling about in your mind how you may want to apply your new found additional repertoire, really nice.

Saad was buzzing afterwards, he really enjoyed himself and was so impressed with everybody. And John, how quick was he, too, happy as a pig in muck and that eye of his was amazing, he was having a ball wasn't he, and the banter was great fun, too! A pleasure to meet you both, the next course will be in Alexandria, ...we'll keep you posted! 🙂

PS: our journey back to Scarbrough should have taken us three hours and took us closer to 5.... serious holdups, too, but, yes, worth it. Thanks for being there, Phil and John

PPS: will post/send pictures as soon as possible, no worries... 🙂

Course photos.... Mikethetile could not make the Colchester course after all, so these are just from Stoke-on-Trent. Timeless John and Phil Hobson's paper mosaic eyes, aren't they amazing?? It was really good to meet them both, both very talented people, and that photo with the little micromosaic portrait was a gift from Saad, just thought I'd show you guys... 🙂

the pic with Phil and Saad take me back to my art class days, working out perspective from an eye level. Great pics G:thumbsup:
