Help! Mesh showing after grouting glass tile

Debora

Hi All-
i am a homeowner and in the process of a kitchen renovation. Our tiler just installed our backsplash. It is a clear glass tile with a white background on mesh. It's clear on all sides except the back. The tiler used white thinset to install. When he grouted the first area he noticed that the mesh was still visable behind the glass. At first we thought it was the grout we chose-- Bostik diamond grout. So he did a test with standard white grout on some spare tiles and the mesh was still visable. It looks like dotted lines between the tiles.
I didn't have him continue with the rest of the grouting but am now not sure what to do. The manufacturer is saying that he didn't but enough thinset as it would have hid it. Our tiler is very experience and said he layed the tile properly.
Has this happened to anyone? Do you have any recommendations on what to do to rectify it without ripping out the tile?
would be grateful for any-all feed back.
Thanks.

I'd love to help you on this one but I suppose clear glass mosaics says it all really I suppose your going to see a few bits and bobs I've laid loads of mosaics never clear glass one

And as for not using enough adhesive you can only use so much before it comes through the joints and makes a mess !! Then it turns to a bit of a nightmare

each quote you do there is 2 captions before and after like this {quote} the text goes here {quote/}
both are different though. just copy and paste within these and you can make as many quotes as you like

rest my case.

anyhow back to topic.

I remember the only clear glass mosaic I fixed were paper faced, if they were meshed backed then can't see how it's going to be invisible/covered.

Most likely a manufacturing fault. As mentioned, If there is clear glass (see through) I can't see how any kind, Quantity or colour of adhesive is going to hide this. The mesh is stuck to the back of mosaic tiles so it's not like the adhesive is going to get between the mosaic and the meshing.
Considering the meshing behind the tile is white, Try and mix some white grout and apply it behind the clear glass mosaic. See if it's less visible!

One time I had black mosaic to tile swimming pool and I had to use white BALL mosaic Adhesive , So what I did was I dyed my Adhesive by cement dyed in black. Works ! 🙂 with black grout 🙂

Thanks. I am having the manufactures rep come by and take a look before we grout the rest. We dd try a test sheet with standard white grout. You could still see through it from the sides. :yikes:

You can not see through the grout -- you can see the mesh through the edge of the tile. It's crazy... Can't be the only person this had happened to. My tile installer is very experience and he is flummoxed!

The grout is translucent but not transparent. You can not see through the diamond grout. The mesh is showing through the top edge of the tile. It was the same when we did a test sheet using standard white grout. Ugh!

Nothing will hide this, you either rip it out & replace with something more suitable or you live with it.

Mesh glue stuck to sides of tile between joints more visable on glass ones not frosted i had this and always companies blame tiler.... And his choice of glues....
