Being the cheeky bar steward that I am I replied to a message on works intranet today requesting anyone who knew of a kitchen fitter. I thought aye aye I'll see if I can nab the tiling for the splash backs here.
Anyway my mate has fitted a load of kitchens so I thought I might tip him a nod regarding this as well.
Turns out the lass has had various quotes ranging up to £4500 to fit, wait for it 13 units. That price was for fitting the units only, not installing the cooker, doing the splash backs and the floor, it's literally just the units.
So you can see where I'm going probably with this. DOes anyone have experience of quoting for a kitchen fit? How do you charge it. We have to rip out and dispose of th eold one. Build new carcasses. Install carcasses. Tile splash backs (I can do this bit obviously). Fit laminate flooring (I'm trying to convince her to go to a tiled floor instead).
Could be a nice little earner if I quote it right.

Aas always, a big thanks in advance for any advice offered.

my brothers a kitchen and b/room installer so dont have any probs on that side of things
dev mate. but 4500 wot a rip off

So how does he quote a fit then?
I agree that £4500 is a total rip off (think the bloke was called Dick turpin or something :happy🙂

Me and my mate are going to do the lot but I'm after how to quote for the ripping out, buiding and installation bit.

my mate supplys and fits kitchens and he charges the same price to fit as the same price of the kitchen its self and hes always working

that price on carcasses is that flat pack or rigid

I', not sure to be honest mate, i would assume rigid, i'll ask him next time i see him, are they good or bad prices, I know absolutely nothing about fitting kitchens?

The prices on the carcasses must be for flat pack m8.
40 -50 FOR MITRE JOINTS,
35-45 FOR SINK,HOB.

DEVON R,are you going to tile before fitting units or after?Remember the heights of the appliances if tiling after units are fitted.Personally i would try to persuade her to tile before.

Cheers again lads.
I'm going to see the job on the weekend mate so once I've seen it I'll know what were doing with it, and what were doing first. I'm goingto try and advise for a tiled floor for sure so I'll probably rip out the old kitchen and do the floor first. Then it'll likely be the units in after that. I'll have a better idea once I see the job though.

Almost got involved in a kitchen fitting business recently. The people now concerned fit for Wickes B&Q and MFI. When they first touted for business from these companies they were supplied with "charge sheets" - i.e what each company was prepared to pay fitters for the work. It was very detailed down to a level where they pay out at a set rate for each socket , oven point, light fittiing etc. Might be an idea to contact your local stores anf try to blag one of these sheets. Give you an idea then what they pay (and how much they overcharge the customer!!!)

Dev, just a thought mate but if you aint done a kitchen fit before, whynot just charge a price that YOU would be happy to do it for....dont worry too much about what others charge as your more interested in getting the experience etc

If you thought the whole lot would take you a week you could simply think of a figure (after materials) that would put a smile on yer face.... it will most certainly be cheaper than £4500 but could still realm in the regions of 3k odd mate.

I took this attitude with a hotel floor that i did..... 6 of us quoted but all the others were charging slightly above the normal rate..but i just wanted to get the job for the experience and as a reference so i done it for slightly below the going rate.

The manager told me that all the other quotes were in the region of £4000-£4300 but my quote was £3400. Materials were £350 and i paid someone to help me do it £1300 and i kept the change £1750. done the job in 4 days, worked out lovely all round mate and the work i goty off the back of it is brilliant.
