The sponge ones with the rubber face can become stained with coloured grout. I only use solid ones now and still keep a separate one for white.

Never used on anything but white grout bud, going to try some different finshes (sponge, finger, plastic pipe) only thing left i can think is causing it. Other than that will swap out for MM2 snow

The snow is a difficult colour to get at the moment. Its fairly new and will take a little while to filter through to all the suppliers.

Before ripping it out and starting the test again, you could try epoxy or a grout colourant such as Mapei Fuga Fresca or Universeal Grout rescue. At least that way you'll have a back up option to try if you never get the brilliant white you are after.

Do you have any pictures of the existing grout so we can see how bad it is?

places can order it in but it aint cheap stuff - struggling to find many alternatives. £35-£40 for a 5kg bag vs £13 for grout 3000 / mapei UC :(

Would of thought majority of grouts that were white, were as such - white. Pic attached bit rubbish quality sorry. Makes the joints look dirty and not fresh.

Another area i sanded down a little bit and the white to that is pretty much bang on, but i cant go around every joint and sand, esp as it marks tiles.

The colourant is a last resort really, rather not use that if i can help it - prefer the grout to be right in the first place. Any other brillant white grouts anyone can recommend?

If you were installing white glossy tiles with white grout, is it expected for grout to be off white? thanks bud

Not sure you being too picky as getting grout to a perfect 255,255,255 (colour spectrum) would be nigh on impossible especially when you factor in the lighting conditions plus the shade variants against white tiles - gawd knows how many whites I have seen over the years.

Anyhoo, I have magically adjusted your photo for correct white balance to help show the peeps the true colour under daylight conditions. When I checked the grouts against the tiles, the colour score of the bottom one was almost identical to the tile, around 179,179,179 so even that shows that your tile is not pure white, will you take the tile back because it is not pure 255,255,255?

I doubt the tile is pureeee white but the grout certainly is not. We're looking at this through computer images so its hard to gauge it tho it defo is not white, i dont want it perfect but it does look grey. I guess this is why BAL relaunch there shade of white to be even whiter as its likely like the ones ive been using.

Think ill try unibond you recommended, i always thought they were a bit rubbish and frowned upon? Reviews look good apart from 1 guy on amazon say "after 6 months turned yellow and crumbly" so thats a bit worrying!
