choice:-Ditra or 6mm cement backer

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Hi,
Can anyone give an informed opinion on the better choice between Ditra and backer board in the following scenario. Don’t really want to do both!
I have approx. 40m2 over 3 rooms. Tiles are 33cm porcelain.
Floor is suspended 6 inch timber joist at 350mm centres across sleeper walls 1.3 metres apart.
Between joist Wet underfloor heating has been installed with a weak sand/cement biscuit infill.
18mm WPB ply laid on top screwed every 150mm to joists supported by noggins at all edges.

The cost difference between matting and cement board is not really an issue but i am just interested in a consensus of which choice offers more benefit in this situation.

Many Thanks.

I don't see the point of cement boards on floors when the they offer little deflective strength and one has to use plywood anyway. Ditra is a better choice for adhesion if the floor is strong.
