best chisel to get tiled bathroom floor up?

M

Mr T

just took one tile up with a bolster and its took me 10 mins whats the best way to approach it? cheers

You need a 3 function SDS drill with rotary stop, drill/hammer drill/chisel, not a 2 function one. And a spade/tile lifting bit. That'll fly through the job.

does the chiosel piece spin on this drill? I have a drill and can also switch it to a hammer symbol but it still spins???

Lol!!

That'll be a hammer drill then mate. SDS usually have a hammer only setting, drill only setting and a combinaton setting. A bit beefier than a normal hammer drill as well.
I picked up a ryobi one not too long back pretty cheap. Google ryobi direct. Screwfix have a cheap set of SDS bits as well for aroun 30 quid. Couple of chisles and a few drill bits in there. They're lasting pretty well too.

I think one day you should progress to getting the kit.. but for now, if you're just taking up your bathroom tiles - I think you should use your hammer and chisel and your muscles for the time being. You'll be alright Mr T, its only the hottest day of the year, a bit of sweat will do you no harm

Mate thats exactly what I will be doin tmoz... Off work till Thursday so want the bathroom at least prepped for boarding and tiling. Got 3 days so should be ok haha

I used my SDS but bought the Armeg tile removing chisel mentioned above last year when I needed to remove a floor.. it literally ate them 🙂

Jon.

The tile removing bits are a bit specialist, check out any of the forum sponsors as they will stock them. I got mine of eBay but make sure it's genuine 🙂

Any SDS will do provided it has a hammer only mode which they virtually all have, I got my SDS from a DeWalt refurb centre for about half the price of new with the same warranty.
