Hi

I need to extract a couple of damaged limestone tiles. Any advice appreciated. A builder has tried and damaged tiles. It seems the grout is causing the damage - chips coming off adjacent tiles. I plan on buying a dremmel to cut through the grout or a rotary cut out tool. What would anyone suggest - dont know how delicate limestone is. Many thanks.

Best Wishes

With any tile if your removing one surrounded by others get the grout out first from around that tile:yes:

Thanks. What tool would use for this I have a fein multimaster but think this is too brutal. So Im thinking dremel. Please advise.

Hi m8

U got that bit right tho I would use a grinder...... cut around the tile then corner to corner. When all grout is removed put a bowster in the diagonal cuts and thump it a couple of times, this should start some movement then go from there.

You MUST remove all the grout if you dont the vibration/ deflection created by hitting the tiles will loosen others.

The damage is surface holes near the joints. I think that what you wanted.

Its cutting into a 2mm joint with an angle grinder that is the problem. I suppose a really thin cutting disc is the answer. Please reply

Thanks

The best way howard, will be to cut about 5mm shy of the tiles edge and into the middle of the tile.....break from the middle outwards then just use a thin blade scraper to get the last 5mm bits and grout......be careful and it will be fine.....

good luck...

The dremmel grout removal bit is ok but it WILL cut into the tile if you are not careful. The guide that comes with it is not great either.

I would have thought the Fein would have done a better job.
