hi everyone just to let you know how let down i was by kerakoll
i was called in to do a slate floor for a local builder i know ,it was on a anhydrite screed that had been layed for over a year ,any way got to the job ,checked the floor was not wet by taking a moisture reading and yes it was well dry ,looked to see wot sealer was there and it was the kerakoll primer A , NEVER USED this sealer before so called the local shop that supplied the builder with it and they said all good to use ,so applied the sealer to the floor like stated on the tin ,and the next day i started laying the slate ,after a good day laying called it a day ,the next day i was just about to start laying again when i stepped on a layed slate and found it to be loose ,ooooooooo no the whole floor was loose ,the sealer had come away from the floor ,so called the builder ,and the kerakoll rep ,who came out the next day straight away , i spent all that day taking off the add from the back of the slates , when the rep got there he said i have applied the sealer wrong ,saying it should of been watered down to a 3-1 mix to soak in more , and to forget about wot it said on the tin ,lol:yikes:
any way the rep then ended up selling all his H40 ideal add to the builder saying you can lay straight on to a anhydrite floor with this add with no need to seal ,but he did say he would like to seal the floor himself just to be sure , so some days later after the floor had dryed out again he sealed it for me and stood there with me the builder and a couple of painters and said its ready for tiling ,so next day i started again and just like before the day after everything was loose again :mad2::mad2::mad2:, like before called the rep ,builder out again ,the sealer had not taken to the floor again ,comeing clean up , but this time the rep said it was my fault for tiling on a wet screed
:yikes::yikes::yikes: hang on i said the floor was dry you sealed it and said tile it ,

theres more

the rep then got in his car and have never seen him again ,no answer on his phone ,so not the sort of company they make out to be , you have been warned ,after everything the rep said did and sold never heard from them again , :mad2::mad2: the builder is out of pocket on add and some slate ,im out of pocket a weeks work ,
if you ever meet a rep from kerakoll ran , ,
on a good note i did the slate floor useing wot i know works on a anhydrite screed ,and me the builder are happy with the finish ,the pics our on my profile gallary

SHAME ON YOU KERAKOLL SHAME

so the kerakoll rep inspected the floor after the first failure after useing there products(sealer) as it says on the tin and then the rep supplied there own materials that can be used on this screed without having to use there own primer! and then he decided that there primer should be used!! and he then applied his primer himself!! and you tiled it useing his supplied products!! and it failed again!! After the rep said it was ok to tile it now!!
Sounds to me like the primer has failed!!!
Also sounds like the rep doesent have faith in his own products as the adhesive supplied by them is supposed to be able to be applied without the sealer direct onto a gypsum based floor but he decided to prime it again!!

hi yes sorry forgot to add that yes all sanded off , and yes not a lot of faith in his own ,then ran away :incazzato::incazzato::incazzato:

all so like to say a big thank you to cerbera for standing up for a fellow tiler , he met the rep ,and asked him if ever they had a failure , the rep named me saying i sealed a wet floor 😛rrr:😛rrr:😛rrr: , so now its my turn to name and shame

I have just seen your rep, he is still running. He has just finished the London marathon in an hour and a half, maybe it was because of that angry tiler chasing him.

lol i dont mean to sound bitter , but hey thats a weeks work ,no money ,just to keep faith with the builder , will catch up with him one day ,give him a good sealing

well done for naming and shaming him, I met the kerakoll rep and we discussed prices over a coffee at a service station, I thought I had negotiated their top discount and was promisedby him that no one would get a better price than what they had offered me , I was about to place an order of 4 pallets of adhesive when in a passing conversation with a wholesale trim and tool supplier they offered me kerakoll at a better prices than the rep had given me ,to say that I was fuming was an understatement and I felt completely mugged off by the rep in question and completely changed my mind on using their products ,they may be one of the big boys abroad but tactics like that will get them no where fast over here

i try and keep to what i am happy with now. if it aint broke dont fix it...
changing can be hassle in some ways so if there are no obvious benefits, then i wont look to change....mapei mostly now for me

The rep in question is Exmouth based and was telling the story to a local stone supplier, that some guy down in Bude had made a balls up by tiling on a wet anhydrite screed!. Word gets a around quick. The rep in question used to trade under the name Versatile i think..

My free sample of Kerakoll went straight onto the site skip!.

You certainly earn't your money on that job TT!...

thanks for that everyone ,its not nom my thing to bad mouth any one ,but i needed to say it , and by wot you have all said im not the only one they have up set , he said he was a tiler ,but i didnt belive him ,did seam to know much about anything ,apart from how good his products are ,:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: and we all know how good they are
the only thing i can do is put it down to experience and move on , o and dave i used ardex p82 good stuff ,roll it on very thin ,but my god it sticks like sh-- to a blanket ,or i use screedmaster just as good ,tell everyone guys , if it saves some one going through wot i did ,hey i would feel a lot better :thumbsup::thumbsup:

To openly badmouth a company like this, i do hope you are prepared to provide your full details should they ask for them..just in case..

oooooooooooo yes and with lots of witnesses ,they wouldnt have a leg to stand on ,just two to run away on

You say the 2nd time you laid the slate after the rep sealed the floor for you and gave yo the go ahead to tile you used H40 Ideal ? So what was the adhesive the 1st time ? Just curious and following this story as i have tried Kerakoll and had no issues.
I was asked by the rep later what i thoought and my honest answer was "its ok but nothing new IMO".
I am also awaiting a suspected response from Ajax123 as i know he was on a job recently where Kerakoll was used.

hi and yes i found the h40 very nice to use ,it was the sealer , first time round i used granfix ,which i all ways use and find it very good ,its one of the only add grouts i can get down here

In that case i would think they have a valid claim ( for the 1st attempt) that because kerakoll primer was used then so should Kerakoll adhesive and not granfix or any other make.....as for any "wriggling" out of the 2nd attempt ... I dont know :mad2:

the rep said it did not matter wot add i used as his sealer was the best you can get , i have never known a water based primer being any good on anhydrate ,have all ways used a two part epoxy ,

Hi, guys - very interested in this thread as I have just started using Kerakoll for premium stone fixing (about the last two months). I have found it great to use and clean up, etc, good pot life and open time but as we all know, time will tell!!! I use standard set a lot because I do a lot of detail work and work alone, and find that with fast set I am mixing and cleaning up literally half the day. Perhaps I am just disorganised!!! As for the primer issue my understanding is that we should stick to the same brand for primers and adhesives as the polymers work together, and of course the polymers do differ from company to company. Does this make sense or am I being naive?
The only issue I am seeing currently with Kerakoll is colour shading on grout and am about to get back to them about this. Will report back as to how supportive they have been! Thanks chaps.

If you have the OK are you allowed to quote the Rep's name ? I'm interested for another reason - You could send me a PM if you preferred.

Thanks

Richard
