What tile cutter ?

P

Pierluc

Hey there, i've been browsing the forum for a couple weeks now and i decided to make an account. Im a carpenter doing occasional ceramic tiling jobs and i would like to change my cheap cutter for a better one, my local dealers are selling Rubi tools, so i might be going for one of those. I would be using it only for residential use, floor tiles up to 18inches (45 degree ), homemade showers, countertop, stairs

What are your though about the rubi Ti66-T ( Pull cutter ) ? Seems to have nice guides for angles and is a bit cheaper than the TS-60, wich is the other model i am looking at

I cant figure out how the breaker on the TS models will work for the angle cuts and mosaic , so i would rather go with a movable breaker

What are you guys though about this ? should i be looking somewhere else, better options ?

Thx, Pierluc

Hello and welcome..the movable breaker is deffo better for mosaics and angled cuts..as long as the feet are close enough together..the ti series defo offers that option..

im not sure if i can get montolit cutter here and cannot find much info about them

i think ill have to choose between the Ti66-T and Ti66-S, what are the pros and cons of a pull cutter instead of a push cutter ? to you have a better view of the cutting wheel ? ive always used a push cutter, other than the sigma that i have tryed for a couple cuts

have you thought about the tx700n, if you're going to be doing angled cuts,it might be worth considering going up a size. I have a tx700 and it's the best cutter I've ever had. I prefer a push to a pull as I'm a bit apprehensive about a personal injury with a pull cutter!

You worried about getting a limp wrist doug?😛rrr:

hi pierluc, the ti-66s is certainly a decent cutter and should be adequate for what you need it for.

Just got the Ti66-T , looks pretty good im amaze how light it is compare to the cheap steel stuff 🙂 The scoring wheel is hitting the guide but i dont think its a big problem
seems to cut thin strips down to 1/2 inches verry well, came with 2 wheels, looks like 10mm and 20mm to me
ill be doing my house in a month ill post some pictures

ah the folly of youth!! my first cutter was a ts30 and i loved it too but sadly these cutters simply cant deal with the tiles im fitting these days...

ts 30 was my first cutter aswell i think ts pluses are really good cutters good breaker but as for angled cuts probably not the best on the market

Having used a Ts 60+ for abut 12 months brought a ti 66s both great cutters. like the cutting action on the ti although it is a little bulky an of course DOES NOT COME WITH A CASE. chose the ti thinking that the angle adjuster would make life easier and ,unusually for me ..was right. have also picked up a ts 40 for smaller and more confined spaces. Hope this helps.
