tyre prices

hi all,went to get quoted on 2 new front tyres as they are as bald as duncan goodhew:smilewinkgrin:

budget wanted 180...farmers 140

went to local scrappy and got 2 almost new tyres supplied and fitted for 40 quid... anyone else use scrappys for tyres on the vans?

only ever put new tyres on my cars but shopping around does pay. back in the days when I had my Punto, I used to get uniroyals for 35quid each.

Tyres from a scrap yard off a car that has been in a crash! no thanks, got my family to think about, two front tyres last month £255.00 each, Range rover, they will last 3 years so thats about 45p a day for safety, van tyres will be new and not called tiger, real brands that last and are safe.
I was in a passenger seat of a van years ago that had a blow out, that tyre was only about 4 months old, very very scary, dont compromise on safety mate, its not worth it, Insurance firms insist on the correct tyres for the vehicle, you buy cheap and have a bump, they will find out.

My last set of good year nct5's were £550 for 4 :yikes:, cos of the size, speed and load rating I dont have a great deal of choice.

Wouldnt put old/used tyres on my van, your brakes are only as good as your tyres. I pull a cattle trailer as well at times. Are the scrap tyres of the correct ply for PSV?
