Hi
I have travertine tiles laid on moisture resistant chipboard. They have cracked along the chipboard joins. Would taking up the cracked tiles and putting in a decoupling membrane solve the problem or does the whole lot need to come up?
Thanks!!

Hi Wendy
Perfect example of how not to do it unfortunately..................

When tiling over weyroc / chipboard you must ensure no joist movement and overboard with 10/12mm ply screwed at 300mm centres inorder to provide a stable substrate and an uncoupling membrane used before tiling.

In your case its possible the weyroc has maybe sagged causing more than normal stress. Might be an idea to take out the chipboard and replacing with a 20mm ply and a membrane.
