As I said to the man you can polish a turd all day but it is still a turd
And this is a turd that has not stuck to the adhesive. It is possibly the worst installation I have seen and all he could say was yes but look how shiny it is. The architect asked about the 16mm ramp and he said it was the screed and when asked why he did not tell someone he said he thought that was the way they wanted it

very poor job, how embarrassing for the supplier and the architect should be ashamed with such a stupid comment ,well done Deano thanks for keeping us updated I look forward to the next instalment

hey deano,
you cant polish a turd but they have certainly tried to put a glaze on it...;0)
and the saying, stuck like sh£t to a blanket, definately doesnt apply on that job mate??

The stain was from the resin that the chap mixed in the middle of the tiles. They tried to grind it out and then they used some chemicals then they polished it finally they removed it or rather I did

oh yeh could be that Dave. it's just you could get that on natural stone if you leave masking tape on (looked like 2" tape on 1st picture)

Ok need some assistance now going to do the stone federation thing and also ask the TTA
The client is not happy with the end result on the floor and Lapicida have suggested Silex uk do an inspection any one had any dealings with them ? Also do we have any members that could act as an independent expert given that this will end up in court.

Never heard of them... TTA do inspections though and those DO stand up in a court of law.

just checked out silex website and they look okay but i would be careful using someone they recommend as they could be friends ,an independant witness for court acts on behalf of the court to explain any technical issues and only answers questions put to them rather than giving their opinion on the quality of the stone or the fixing so your questions need to very precise and direct such as "does the 16mm ramp in the floor meet the current uk british standards" ,also make sure that you get witness statement form as many other contractors that may have been party to any conversations that took place regarding the quality of the stone and the fixing it may not look good for the customer the fact you warned him about the quality of the stone and he ignored your advice as this was the time to reject it, hopefully he will have all the correspondence from lapicida assuring him a quality finish ,its terrible when a job goes like this but I have seen this happen far more frequently in the past few years

What a bloody shame. I thought this was going to end up down this road. I don't know why Lapicida carried on with the installation when so much went so wrong. Whoever was managing the project and perhaps even the architect needs a bit of a word too as they should have put a stop to it long before it got to this. Or even better, just sorted it out with proper fixers.

I'd go with TTA route and definitely not a firm they recommend as they probably buy from them or something like that. TTA will appoint a suitable bloke who has no ties. And that'll get the resolution sorted quicker.

I can't believe it's still going on and not been sorted to be honest I'd be p1ssed off if it was my house.
