RIP my old feline Friend.

The Legend; Phil Hobson RIP

I know some people are more into dogs than cats, but I had the sad task of taking my old cat Wills to the vets to be put to sleep last Wed, He was over 20yrs and had had a real good life, I held him in my arms as I watched his life slip away, broke my heart to do it. Thats why I couldn't put it on here till now. Here are some pics taken one hour before he had to leave us. Got tears in my eyes typing this, soppy git I know.

Sorry to hear that you lost your little friend Phil , i have been there with my cat Cindy, years ago and now i have a little dog a labradoodle Poppy she is a great little frend to , we can form some great relationships with animals it never fails to amaze me , RIP Wills  some of the best men i know have a soft spot for a pet :hurray:

Nothing soppy about it Phil they ARE family members, and it does hurt like mad, the fact that we have the final say over it is horrible, but ( deep breath here ) we have to do what is right, done it myself and the memories are now coming back, tear in eye.

R.I.P Wills

Me too Phil. My cat Alice passed away on Christmas day just gone. It's surprising how attached you can get. A first for a long long time, and i feel no shame in admitting it but i balled my eyes out.

My new Grandaughter born last week my old friend dies this week life goes on, sorry if I am being a bit morose for a friday night, have a good weekend everyone. Going to watch Walking Dead soon. That should cheer me up.

Ok so now I'm holding back the tears !!!*fans face like a chick*
I had to have mine put to sleep a while ago and my mates cat also the same way.

On a lighter note my new one and the youngest are expecting kittens any day!!

Never had a pet for that long but have known people who have and it's like a member of the family, condolences Phil tough call for any owner to have go thru that.

Know how you feel mate, lost my old collie of 16 years to cancer last year, was devastated, was still expecting him to wander through even months after it, just ge so used to them.

20 years is a good old age, mine is coming on for 12 years and is more like a dog than a cat. All my mates absolutely love him because he's so friendly and sure of himself, never lashes out at anyone and allows kids to pull and poke him without getting the least bit upset, in fact he prefers being patted rather than stroked the wierd creature. I often wonder what i'll do when the time comes and it breaks my heart when I think about as I know i'll be in absolute bits but I know if he lasts 20 years i'll be more than made up.

I feel your grief too. I shed buckets when I had to take ours to the vet the final time.
Perhaps in due course you'll find it in your heart to give a good home to a new cat, ideally one from a rescue centre.

Sorry to hear!

over 20! Sounds like he had a cracking life, they are like extended members of the family and it hurts just as much when we loose em

Lost my lab x German Shepard a couple of years ago, was my best friend from the age of 12 until I was 26 and I still get choked up

Heart goes out to you mate!

Really truly sorry to hear this mate. Some people are dog lovers and for some reason don't trust these lovely wee creatures, I love cats, my daughter has two of them and when I go to her house they are the first ones I go to see and they are very pleased to se me and greet me well. Cats are awesome, there affection is maybe not as obvious as Dogs they really are very beautiful little creatures. He looks a wee cracker!!

So sorry to hear this Phil, we do get so attached to pets. I am sure Wills had a great life in the Hobson house.

I feel for you I really do. I lost my tabby a few years ago and despite getting two more cats who I love dearly, I still miss him so much. I burst into tears on my neighbour who found him, but that's human nature. Not soppy mate, just human.
I was told to read this poem when he first went, and I'm never a big fan of taking comfort in literature but somehow it helped....

That's so sad to hear Phil. I know what that's like. We had to get my Mums dog put to sleep recently. Very sad
