Removing and replacing the dame tile.

Hi,

I recently moved in with my gf and started working to renovate the house. The eventual plan in a few years is to put in a new kitchen. Trouble is at the moment there is some loose tiles that are patterned and I don't think I could find matching ones. Therefore I'm wondering the best way to remove a tile and keep it intact so I can reuse it again

Many thanks

Matt

Lol. Was starting to get that impression when searching the Internet for advice!

Sorry Matt, if the tiles have been fitted properly you might as well forget trying to get them off in 1 piece. You can buy a tile removing chisel for this purpose but personally I would be thinking about new tiles. Sometimes they just fall off the wall if poorly fitted and you can remove the old adhesive with a small angle grinder. Try and scrape out most of the grout first and your chances will improve. Good luck.

Cheers mate. Might see if it will last until we get a new kitchen cos the other half wants to move it all around. If I tile it now I'll be doing the same again in a couple of years time! Lol

If they are that loose they may be reuseable, but once to start taking the loose ones out you tend to find they're loose for a reason and before you know it you have a major job on hand.

Depends a bit on the grout gap. You could use a multitool with grout removal blade and if the tile is loose it should come out.

I'd just put it on a to do list and if the relationship doesn't last you saved yourself a job.
