Plasterboard for bathrooms

E

Hi all - quick question on plasterboard. I have a stack of 12.5mm plasterboard that I have slowly been working my way through on studwork throughout the house.

I have left the bathroom until now but looks like I'll have to get some board up soon for the first fix plumbing.

Can I use the same standard plasterboard that I've been using or should I use some waterproof plasterboard?

I have a little cloakroom to do downstairs; the kitchen and a family bathroom upstairs.

Was planning on making the family room as waterproof as I can - maybe a wet room (I tend to get everything soaking - no idea how !)

Thanks for any advice.

You can use it....Just tank it with a tanking membrane.....If you contact wetdecs he will sort you a very good price out for this....

The only issue will be the weight of your new tiles...as long as it dose not exceed 32kg per sqr mtr including adhesive and grout then it will be fine....

Hi Ed

Definitely speak to Wetdecs regarding tanking - he is the bees knees.

Have just finished tanking my shower and have used 12mm plasterboard on one false wall (as recommended).

The advice and help you will find on this site is amazing.

Never thought I could achieve what I have - just tanked my shower and now doing the tiling - all with the help of these wonderful folk.:hurray::hurray::hurray:
