Makita vs Milwaukee

P

Peter

Going to get a new drill and impact kit and have a dilemma. Finding it hard to choose between an 18v Makita 4ah kit and the Milwaukee 4ah kit for the same price. Is there a definite better option or are they pretty equal? Anybody used both?

Basically the same drills, just badged up differently. I would personally go for Makita due to more options for using batteries with other tools in the range ( and I'm a Makita tart!)

Really??

Milwaulkee everytime for me, mine is superb.

No, I got it wrong. Milwaukee, Ryobi & AEG are who I was thinking of (My Ryobi palm sander is virtually the only non Makita power tool I own which is why my brain went down that route!). They are all part of the TTI group and the working parts of all three are virtually identical but vary massively on price

Not really wanting to go any higher than that so that rules the Hiltis out. Plus I'd look like a spark

If they're the same price, Makita for me. Not a reflection on Milwaukee, as I've never used one. Can't fault the Makita's though... 😉

I have a gut instinct that the Milwaukee is the better drill, but Makita would be easier for customer service and more options for battery sharing. Do the Makitas give much bother?

Pete, I love my makita gear, it's just the usual wear & tear you get.
My impact driver has lasted for years,
Onto my second grinder & onto my 4th 5th driver, I only use this for coring holes.
I sold all my Dewalt & replaced it with makita.

All my gear at the moment is Makita , other than my angle grinder which is bosch ! Can't fault the makita at all good gear , good price! But like everything else it's down to personal choice, and whatever your local tool suppliers want to push your way, ( you know what their like , if their shops are full of dewalt or bosch , then they'll question you as to why you want Makita!)

The makita kit is selling on amazon for £70 cheaper than most other outlets if that sways your decision. 😉
