homebase tiles

My brother bought homebase tiles that i'm fixing(looking forward to that going by some of the things said bout diy stores) the size of these ceramic tiles are 25cm x 40cm.Read the back of the box and it says "don't forget your tube adhesive"

Are these tiles not boardering on being to big for tube adhesives?

Would'nt be using any tube adhesive on any tile, Have'nt used nanolight so can't comment on that

Tub adhesives are generally fine for this size tile, we only recommend powder adhesive for large format tiles or porcelain.

25 x 40 are large format and I would not use tubbed stuff on them:whatchutalkingabout

Well yes and no (in my opinion. ) a 300x300 will give 11 tiles per m2 a 25x40 will give 10. Not a huge difference. It does mean that with a 25x40 tile adhesive will never be more than 125mm from a grout joint whereas on a 300x300 it can be 150mm. I use 300x300 as that is said to be the upper limit of tubbed adhesive in a lot of cases.

Lets remember its more about letting the adhesive breathe rather than weight which most people assume so therefore material of tile is important.

I would probably agree with slater and suggest it says Tub.
I have seen countless boxes telling me to "Insure floor boreds are screwed before tilling".

Is there any other speeling mistakes on the box? 😉

This is why i asked the question 250 x 400 overall area is bigger than 300 x 300.

Well, as i said when using a 250x400 tile the adhesive is only going to be a maximum of 125mm from a grout line, a 300x300 tile is going to be 150mm. Therefore the 300x300 tile (which is what they allow up to) is gonna have adhesive further away than the 250x400 and as that is how dispersion adhesives work. Out of interest what would you suggest for a 150x400?
or a 155x660? And really surely it matters on grout gap and what the tile is made of? I'm guessing as they are homebase tiles they aren't gonna be rectified so therefore a 3mm gap atleast? And they will be so airy in most cases they will float 😉. Either way, if i had suggested a customer to use a tub, as the tile box from the maker of the tile suggests i would say a d2 to be on the safe side. 🙂
