Hi all new to the site

I've just had my bathroom tiled and I queried the quality of the tiling especially where the builder has cut straight lines in the tiles. The edges look very very rough to me and I can't help but think they should be a lot neater.

I've taken one close up picture of the tiling - the rough edges run the whole way down where he had cut the tiles.

He said that it is impossible to get a smooth line. I have paid him a good amount of money for a professional finish and he has said all along that the finish will be as good as could be expected.

They are polished porcelain tiles from tile giant - the Jakarta range. They are 600 x 300mm and 10mm thick.

Thanks
Morgan

Hi Morgan, No, thats no good!!! Can you post more pics please so we can get a better idea of the over all Job. Poor poor!!

Hi and welcome. Looks like he's used a cheap grinder blade on the tiles. Definitely doesn't look like he used a wet cutter. Would help if we could see more pics though

Looks like a wet cutter or angle grinder. Inconsistant grout line, grout colour and tile face is not clean properly, cut tile next to uncut tile. We really need more pics to properly asses this but I fear the worst going by the pic!

thanks for the replies - its given me enough to discuss with him when I see him in two hours...

Not sure what he used so make the cuts so I'll ask him. I'll also get some better pics.

Cheers all

Not acceptable. He is a builder not a tiler. No self respecting tiler would leave those cuts like that. We invest £100s if not £1000s in tools to be able to do our jobs to a high standard.

Not good cutting at all, no excuse for this kind of work, ignorance is no excuse:mad2: oh and:welcome:

I imagine that you can guess what Im going to say. No even nearly good enough, you do not pay some1 do do a DIY job. May I ask why you had a builder do it and not a tiler?

Can somebody please tell me what it is with builders, I wouldnt take on a job building a house because Im a tiler :mad2:

Also could you give a bit more detail about the tiling please. Walls and floor? What was tiled onto? Do you know what materials were used? And also more pics would be a big help.

Welcome along Morgan, so how did the meeting go?
We are tilers here not builders so as said above we don't build houses nor should they tile floors and walls.
We get this all the time on here, why pay for shoddy work????
