:hurray:Hi all I wonder if any of the Tilers out there have ever had a problem with Silver Grey Quartz Granite. I have Laid some 600 x600 with a good flexi white Adhesive and after several months it has all Bowed by 4mm in the corners. Why ?

hi dexter not sure if this is the cause but i steer clear of standard flexis with water for this type of tile as whitebeam has said some are not too keen on water either

Thanks for all your advice I have Tech guy coming out from the Adhesive co, and he says it could be caused by heat. Apparently they had the same problem at Heathrow Airport. I am hoping this is the case. Thanks again Dexter

Again what Dave said. But if not it could also be central heating pipes under the floor warming the concrete. How was the prep done before laying?

Half of them the rest are around the kitchen area it all points to a heat issue. Could I be right?

These tiles can and do curl with even sunlight on them for prolonged periods... they DO NOT!! like any form of heat...

If that is the case who is liable when I the tiler has fitted them using all the right products and the product does what it has done and the customer is looking at me to replace every thing and the tile supplier seems to be washing there hands of it.

It is a grey area Dexter... the tiles should be for for purpose but there is that much crap on the uk market and it is hard for a fixer to offer a guarantee on quartz installations in areas subject to any form of heat...

Quite a few uk suppliers are now seeing issues with quartz and recommending they are not used in areas of heat.. even CTD are going to change their views on Gulfstone..

Interesting question. Who purchased the tiles? You or the customer?

Thank you so much for your answers I feel abit more at ease to deal with the supplier and customer

Let us know how you get on dexter and try not to worry ... IMO it is a case of quartz used in the wrong scenario..
