Grout going off too soon.

Ive just grouted up a simple splash back . Four M2. The issue I have is that no sooner had I finished grouting, 10-15 min. The grout had gone off rock solid? I used Mapei which incedently I prefer. I managed to clean it back somewhat, but the grout lines are still heavy. Can anyone suggest a method of reducing the grout thickness, without raking out and re-grouting?

Thanks
Spencer

Sand paper has so many uses 😉 but it will actually scratch porcelain....I know 🙁😉

Was thinking sandpaper folded, using the edge to rub on the grout line, not on the tile face. If that makes sense.

The dreaded metros + fairly fast setting grout + perhaps a warm room! You could spend all day trying to sand/scrape/dremel/fein and still only achieve an average finish. You might find it easier to knock them off and replace seeing as they are cheap.

ucp, small ceramics and a warm environment can easily catch you out. I think Rookery's option is best course and use a different grout next time . Grout 3000 gives plenty of time with ceramics.

Ahh Archie Dremmel what a player he was for Scotland

I saw him score a goal for Preston North End v Chelsea in 1970.
Not as good as his World Cup goal v Holland but a legend for grit and determination.
For those wishing to see his greatest goal look up Archie Gemmel.
