Hi all,

Error made and thought I'd share. Had to fit a 750 x 600 glass splash back behind an Aga. Now the wall was pretty battered and the flue was very much in the way. Decided to put the adhesive on the Glass back, found out it had just been spray painted black and using all I knew, ran a 10mm notched trowel over it to spread the glass adhesive. Damn!!!! Scratched the paint all off leaving streaks. Tile Giant, Farnham were pretty indifferent to my situation, saying Tile law states once fitted it's your problem mate. I little sticker on the back of the panel saying "be careful not to scratch" would not have gone a miss.

Live and learn.

Re: Glass splash back

Hi Rob,

Unfortunately that sort of thing perhaps would be down to the tiler to be fair to any tile shop that stocks those. When you look at the glass from the front you can see that it's just a film on the back and not the actual glass that is coloured (which is what gives it the thick clear gloss effect that's sought after with them).

Very fragile stuff. Even cutting them can cause shoddy edges to show through if you don't cut the coloured part well. Scoring them from the back can even cause a mess if you press on too hard.

Black nail varnish might help. I had to cut one and had a little scratch right at the bottom, tried everything i could think of to cover it and the black nail varnish work.
