I am going to skim a wall but it has some cracks about 10mm wide, a foot long. What should I use to fill it in before skimming? thanks in advance

Why has the wall cracked???

i would check for any movement?
if it is an internal wall have you made any alterations to the surrounding area lately?
it might just be old dried out plaster!
if it is on any side of the external walls(i.e gables/front/back) i would get an engineer to check the structures of the house, don't want to sound like a scare-monger but your better not covering up the cracks(no pun intented)

Hi there; iv allready checked the wall itself there is no damage to the brickwork only the plaster. im wondering what i can use to fill the crack that would dry quick before skimming

hi,im not a plasterer done wee bits of skimming before and was just wondering what was the best filler to use.thanks for that mate appreciate the info:thumbsup:

once filled with bonding i would put scrim over this before skimming to mate:thumbsup:
