someone said to me the other day that a ceramic slate effect floor tile needs sealing i am wrong in saying that it does nt because ceramice are glazed over therefore water resistant😕

try a damp clothif its polished or honed wil they need sealed how would you tell the difference
Spot on Guy!ceramics are clay with glazed applied & fired usually twice for floors,no need to seal.Porcelain however is clay crushed added to glaze, compreessed and the fired at very high temperature and therefore the same all through.Even if a porcelain tile has a high polish to it,don't be fooled, the polishing process exposes pores in the surface like pores in skin(with a well underneath ).If the well fills with sh*t then the tile gets dirty and can't be cleaned,a good impregnator sealer applied, fills the holes and stops it happening approved product FILA developed by the Romana tile company for all tiles supplied by guess who :wink_smile:have a look at side of tile if its not the same colour all the way through its ceramic and doesnt need sealing if it is then it might be porcelain and may need sealing
AYE:wink_smile:always on the job eh gaz
few dips of water on top, look for beading and see how it slides across the tile.... thats what a great man once told me 🙂
