i have grouted ceramic tiles and cleaned up as much as possible with a Karl Dahm washboy, but my sponges are dirty and cant get new ones today but have to clean the tiles by the latest of saturday am, anyone got any suggestions please?? can i just buy a normal sponge and use this to buff up the tiles????

Have you got a topps or tile giant or similar near you? They stay open til 6. Failing that get a jumbo car washing sponge, not ideal but will work

clean off as much grout haze as possible using a sponge as suggested.
allow to dry and buff of the leftover haze with a dry cloth/towel this should clean the tiles.

A normal sponge wil be fine, what do you think we used before washboys and some still do anyway.

to buff up i've found that a strip off of a stair dust sheet works very well. I buy from Trade Tiler and get about 40 buffers, they get used, washed, used again then binned.

Try Microfibre cloths from Screwfix, just under £20 for 50...you wont ever use anything else.

You can buy them seperate but you will be back for more. Washable up to 400 times but I generally get rid after a few washes.

How dirty can the sponges be if you used them to wash off in the first place ? Surely a good battering against the grid and a few clean rinses should do ? Mine have done, well, too many m2 too count and still going, ok, I use one for white and one for grey and mix and match in-between, but my point is they're still ok.
