There are many threads dealing with the subject, as you say, each to their own, it's what your used to

Reminds me of the Grand Designs episode when the German efficiency/workmanship was being touted as the greatest way to have a seamless flat roof on an extension.
There was no falls in the construction - didn't need them they said - It leaked!!!!!!!!!
Nothing like being patriotic but sometimes you can upset people.

I remember that episode, mmmmm, I'll hold my tongue 😛rrr:

i too loved that one

the theoy is sound but it was poorly applied

one of my customers has a german wife and shes always harping on about british tradesman and how much better the germans are

her father is a property developer in germany and speaks english fluently

he came to stay and i had to decorate two bedrooms for the occasion as one room was a dressing room

i was decorating the dining room when he arrived

he was a sound bloke

he said to me that i shouldnt worry about her always complaining , if my work wasnt up to scratch i wouldnt be there and if the german decorators were any better , they would fly them over

germans are great at complaining and have it down to a fine art

in this country we dont complain, we just whinge and moan
