Got a brochure through the post today from a company in Cheshire... Aquacut water jet cutting..

Does anyone get pieces etc water jet cut..?

Never really had a call for it yet ....

The possibilities are endless, I've had a few things done,
I mostly use it if the client doesn't want the shower enveloped, or if the shower is dished like a saucer. Send up a, say 60x60, comes back cut into 5x5 squares, stuck onto 30x30 mesh sheets, no sharp edges.

cometh the day when we can have a portable one.....lots of tilers with no fingers probably!

Not really had a cause, I say really, there have been 2 occasions were I 'could' have had a use for it but we changed to suit. I'll check them out for future, in case of 😉

I'm currently getting 4m2 of 590x590 porcelain cut into mosaics and planted onto sheets.
Also I have an impressive hallway to tile on my current job with a double 100mm border to run around curved walls etc- it's being water jet cut for me too.
The templates are ready too.
The water jet machines are amazing !!

Here's a lovely example of water jet cutting , I think it is anyway, lol. Cute.
Armatile's water jets done it.

What was the American wet cutter with the circular blade called, something XT, that did a similar cut, very nice iirc.

Quicker with the grinder,lol.

Yes, but search / watch some of the vids for that cutter, the noise is minimal, water splash is non-existent, and zero dust........................................ but iirc,, a hefty price tag, I still drool over them lol

We've had a couple done - an entrance Logo to a Masonic Hall and floor lights cut out the middle of 20mm stone.

Looks interesting, I might look into it to get my tiles cut into rods, would save me getting bored out of my skull doing it. I imagine it's a pretty expensive service, I don't suppose holding my finger over the end of the hose would do the same thing?

I used to sell one or two a month when at Topps but never fitted any. Used to be max size about 60 x 60cm back then though, or at least before the price went a bit nuts. Could cut in pretty much any tile. Some nice patterns can come from them. And large compass in the entrance hall had been done half a dozen times a year. All looked spot on.

Didn't know there was a firm in Cheshire that did it though.

Just once, this photo has been posted before..<br>
Tiles inside shower were water jet cut... no other way for accuracy

Great system but pretty costly. Just got some 600x600 cut into mosaics for a wetroom floor. Ended up costing £7 a 300x300 panel, ie 4 panels in a tile.

Would be very unlucky if you broke one of those letters. 🙂

Did a jewellers a couple of years back and broke the pre-cut name twice. They changed the design after the second time as it was too delicate.....

You should have enveloped them !! Why other making into mosaic ?

Wanted mosaic for asthetic reasons plus polished porc so the customer would have ended up on his backside on a wet enveloped floor.

Mosaics do work well in shower.
I have two being cut into mosaics currently out of the porcelain floor tiles.
Plenty of grip with mosaics( or the grouted joints, lol).
