Hi guys,
I've just seen a nice bathroom recently tiled and the bath is really quite wide, but I guess thats the way modern baths may be going...anyway, I started to thin, how do you tile the wall above a bath...I was told on a course to stand on a a frame platform but what if the bath is quite wide, how do you reach? by the way I'm only 5 ft7

employ a taller mate..............

You could buy (or make) a bath board.
Thick piece of ply sheet, carpet on the face that touches the bath, and stand on top of it. Some of the posh ones have holes to fit through some dowels to keep it in place against the bath edges.

I line the bath with several thick old towels 4-5 mask ( low tack decorators) them up the sides , sheet of thick plastic over the lot and with a 12 mm ply board on the bottom , I could then use a small step up to polish or clean tiles, restorer ,sorry not a tiler. Worth protecting never know if you drop/ spill / slip a trowel , used this on many hotels , never had a scrape. Worth the prep.

I just lay lost of s of clean sheets in the bath, then a sleeping bag and the lay another bigger sheet over the top then Stand on a milk bottle crate. I'm no giant and find I can reach to the tops of 2.4mtr ceilings ok.

first thing i do is inspect it for marks with the client. next I cover it in carpet protector then cover it in an old carpet I have then put a piece of ply over this the bath is now fully protected . and the ply also acts as a work surface for cutters etc

On a new bathroom install does anybody ever stand the bath in place and mark out, then remove the bath and tile the walls, then fit the bath so just leaving the cuts to go in?

There would be no need to do that, you could just measure the height of the bath. All bathrooms have the bath fitted first then tiled
