Stone and glass mosaic's

Hi there,

Some advice and confirmation please 🙂 My sister has chosen some stone and glass mosaic's for her feature in her bathroom but they will need cutting to be the way she would like them. The guy she has got doing the bathroom re-fit say's it is not possible to cut them

Is it not possible to cut any tile? be it marble, stone etc? She has just rung me and is gutted after waiting ages to find what she would like only to have her hopes of her dream bathroom dashed 🙁

I am not able to link the tiles from b and q for reason 🙂

Many thanks 🙂

Hi, do you have any pictures? some glass mosaic tiles are hard to cut, but possible
I cannot manage so save the darn B and Q image or post the URL, it keeps saying there are 2 many of them :s will keep trying

I am new to forums so no URL's allowed hehe.. B and Q: wall-tiles/mosaic_tiles/Colours-Natural-Mix-Stone-and-Glass-Offset-Mix-Mosaic-Wall-Tile-300-308mm
Best I can do for now 😉

This is what I tried to tell her, to get them cut if the can be, rather than have a P&D slack out of trying to get the job done the way she wants. I just wanted to know if it can be done. I did post the name of the tiles from the supplier but it has not shown up yet.

I am going to send this thread to my sister to read, and hopefully she will get the P&D to ask a 'qualified' friend to do the work 🙂 If any know someone that can do this (Dartford,Kent area) at a not-so-purse-burning price then that would be great 🙂

Was the P&D offered as part of the B&Q new tile fixing service?

The tiles can be cut with the right tools. Tell him he can paint the ceiling if it needs doing!!!

If you let a P&D loose on a bathroom those hopes of a dream bathroom will almost certainly be dashed !

Advertise the job in the 'I'm looking for a tiler' forum category

As you've found out, yes they can be cut - But not with a paintbrush unfortunately

A little bit annoying that the budget can afford an expensive 'feature' - but no budget for the feature to be installed professionally by a professional, resulting in a professional finish worthy of an expensive feature!

... Did your sister have some quotes from any tilers?? and then maybe chose to go with a Painter?

When you show this thread to your sister, can she also post on Dave's thread about how the 'Tiler' was chosen please? Even if to give us a bit of an idea what goes on...

(spent 10mins trying to link the thread, please add it)

Taken from a profile here, 'if you think it's expensive to hire a pro tiler, just wait til you hire an amateur'

Plenty of Pro tilers on this forum live in Kent.............and we can cut mosaics too

For decorating jobs ask a painter
For carpentry work ask a carpenter
For electrics call a qualified electrician
For fixing tiles that wont fall off ask a qualified professional tiler.

This painter will charge not far off the same as a pro. But a pro can guarantee his work!
