Just had an e-mail from a customer stating that they have chosen the above tiles for their kitchen floor, after I had quoted and agreed a price for porcelain.

I think they are polished so won't need sealing, but what other things do I need to take into account as I've not laid these before.

Should I increase my price?

They also want black grout.

If they are what I think they are, then wet cuts only I'm afraid. Other than that, it's quite nice and clean to cut actually. The resin gives off a strong smell but unfortunately never enough fumes to actually get high from!

Man-made quartz/granite I've worked with has never needed sealing.

Hi NW, definately increase your price as G Dad says, every tile will have to be wet cut which will slow you down..plus black grout which is messy and takes longer to clean up (unless you had already priced for black)...

Good point about the grout, although if I were to use black grout (and believe me, I try not to!) I would be happiest on these tiles. Nice smooth non-staining surface makes them pretty easy to clean and polish.

Black grout on riven slate - now that is a different story! :mad2:

Have done a few of these floor tiles for some footballers thay look stunning and tend to have silver flecks as opposed to the gold ones in granite(obv depending on which granite before someone jumps in and tells me)and i loved the plasticy smell when cutting them!!
Yes wet cuts all the way but worth the wait

my price would shoot up a good bit mate, done quite a bit granite work, takes at least twice as long as a porcelain job, every cut a wet cut.

Re-quoted the price last night and was told to forget it, thay can get someone cheaper!

Dread to think what sort of job they will get done, I originally quoted 2 days plus mats, without black grout.

Got a week off now........
