Opinion on this job please. Is this a satisfactory finish?

It's certainly not one of his better jobs. He a good builder but yes things went a bit wrong here. However, it's saturday and he's coming to fix it.

He's going to wrap the diamond pattern properly. He's also taking off the externals and mitring them properly. However with the internals he said they can be repaired with a special resin. I'm willing to see how this looks but does such a magical resin exist to fix the issue with the internals you can see in the photos?

Also how should he go about getting the excess grout off the marble?

imo it would be easier and better looking to remove the internal mitres and re-do them......ever heard the saying ......you cant polish a turd....lol

in my 40 + years tiling i have never come across this magic stuff, tell him to take them off and do the job proper he is trying to get away with it again, maybe and hopefully he will realise that tiling should be left to tilers of wich he isnt one :ban:

Well he's here now. He held his hands up and said it was a sloppy job and he's not happy with it. I appreciated that.

He's going to take it all off, save what dado he can and what he can't save he will order new. The corners will cut with proper mitres by the marble factory.

I'm happy with that. I'm sure it'll look good.

Just seen this thread, there is nothing else that I can say that hasn't been said already. I do hope this will be rectified to your satisfaction. There is no excuse for bad cutting, and poor finishing.

Pebbs

What's the wall made off? Maybe the mouldings could be salvaged be removing with angle grinder (moulding and substrate) then separate when off?

The wall is just plaster rendering. The tiles are marble.

He's is (as you say), using an angle grinder and a chisel to try and save the marble dado.

I have spare square tiles so I'm not bothered about those so much.

Don't forget to post pics of the new rectified work.

To say he's not happy with it is an under statement he should not have let it get that from day one.
