I have been looking for a tiling course now as I live in London, no problems to travel up to the NE but how can this course be 4 days and all the others seem to be 4 weeks? will I really learn anything in 4 days? I have no clue about tiling whatsoever in the practical sense but due to work constraints 4 days is much better than 4 weeks and my ambition is to complete jobs in my home, relatives homes and then set up my own company to make some pocket money on the side of my regular job

I went to NETT last year and learned loads. It is quite intense and you have alot of info. thrown at you but they are very friendly and nothing seams too much trouble for them.Tracey always has the kettle on and feeding you biscuits and Darren gives you both his experience on tiling and the business side(quotes, advertising, tax etc). The 4 day course doesn't cover natural stone that is normally done on a friday.
You can buy tools from them although I would shop around for some things you can save some money if you do a bit of internet trawling.I haven't spoken to anyone who has been on longer courses but I am sure there is plenty who have on this site.
Good luck.

As Mike says its an intense course and really informative but if you have any knowledge at all regarding building work then you are off to a flier(BY THIS I MEAN HOW TO PREPARE WALLS AND FLOORS FOR TILING)If you dont then there is no need to worry as Darren will explain how to prepare substrates. The course content is second to none and yes you learn all the basics of how to tile but its like driving its not until you are out doing the job on your own that its then when things click into place .I made the transition from working full time in a factory making plumbing products to doing the tiling and i have never looked back and 18 months later im still doing well,so yes you can learn everything in 4 days but its up to you to mput everything into practice once the course is finished. However on the course you have your own bay and you tile a full toilet with a bespoke design on the wall of your choice.I hope you enjoy the course and leave us some feedback m8....Bri

hi guys my first post I am seriously thinking og taking the course on at north east tiling

I am a time serverd plasterer with over 35 years experience most of my life i have been on price work, got finished from the biggest house builder after 10 years that was 6 months ago,I am working for an agency at the mo, I am a cover and I can also tile,I have taken tiling jobs on site before but only the st forward 3 course kitchen and bathroom work, i dont really know if it would be worth my while to take this course on, but like most of us here we gotta think about the next couple of years being very tight for work, so being a spread i would feel confident taking big jobs on to include full bathrooms and floors in private work if I did the course any views?

I'm a plasterer of 27 years mate and you will find it easy on the prep work, Go for it, How many times have you turned tiling down while your plastering:thumbsup:

Go to the New members and say hi and let us know where your from:thumbsup:

Hi Lads, our course is designed to give you the fastest way to learn everything, the pace is fast and all the skills you need to get out there in the real world is covered, as Brian says above all you can do in a training centre is learn what you need to give you a great grounding, your real learning experience only comes when you put your new skills in the real world, 4 days, 4 weeks same thing all it does is get you out there with what to do, once you can stick 5 square metres of tiles on a wall in a training centre, what you gonna learn extra by putting on 10 square metres on the same wall and paying that training centre to put them on, its just more of the same repetitive thing, get yourself out and take on a simple job to start with and learn there.
We have just started an 8 day course, but the extra days training after the 5 days is more on the design side of tiling
