hi to all ;-) would like some advice tiling a wet room former...

Hi all
I have done quite a lot of tiling/ bathrooms over the years but not a wet room floor. I would very much like some advice on how to go about tiling onto the floor and topp dec former with offset waste. The floor has been lined with ply. I am thinking of using plastic ply as well before painting with tanking solution. My main question is how do I lay the tiles on the former, they do not want mosaics which I thought would be easier for me! Enveloping has been mentioned but what do I do with the cut edges. Tiles are ceramic. Any help very much appreciated.

Your set out will be key here. Have you had a bash yet to see what options you have?

Hi Dan
No, they have not got the tiles yet, I said the smaller the better! They had a sample tile which was rectangular about 300mm by 150 mm . I have had a look at some envelope examples on here to try and get some idea. The waste is offset and the former is not flush to the wall. There is a 60mm gap on the length and about 200 mm on the width which I guess is not ideal. If I make a template of the former I understand this will give me the four corner lines. If I snap the tiles will the edges line up tidily? I will get a picture...

Hi chalker, I have a erbauer 750w with wet cutting diamond disc, the only problem is that the edges of the cuts are not that smooth...

That will do. But get a decent blade.
You need the wet cut to make the 3mm gaps on the envelope cuts.
get yourself a diamond pad to polish the edges. If they ate chipping try cutting a bit slower and plenty of water

That's great many thanks, will get new blade and diamond pads, any you can recommend? I will post some more when the tiles arrive so I can see what layout will be needed...again many thanks,

Lee

Hi again, have got new blade for cutter and waiting for diamond hand polishing pads to arrive! My blade is 1.8 mm thick not 3 mm do you think this will cause a problem. This is the room...and the tanked floor...

Any advice would be great. I will dry lay first to see how they look and then use maskers to mark diagonals. ..do they need to be mitre cut ? Or just cut and polished ?
